Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ippo Makounchi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaspar Fletch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Makounchi comes to the cage accompanied by rolling go. Jaspar Fletch has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ippo Makounchi's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Jaspar Fletch!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fletch rushes Makounchi and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Fletch stalling in the clinch but Makounchi improves position.
Makounchi drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Fletch gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Fletch gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Makounchi.
Fletch tries to throw a body punch but Makounchi avoids it by throwing Fletch back against the cage.
Makounchi is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Fletch pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ippo Makounchi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fletch is looking for a takedown.
Fletch prevents a takedown attempt there.
Fletch misses with a hook to the ribs.
Fletch gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Makounchi.
Makounchi is breathing heavily.
Makounchi has Fletch pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Fletch manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Makounchi is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Fletch is trying to stall.
Fletch tries a body shot but Makounchi blocks it.
Makounchi is trying to pull guard but Fletch has him pressed against the cage.
Fletch misses with a hook to the ribs.

Fletch gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Makounchi is looking for a sweep. Fletch is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Fletch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Makounchi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Fletch lands a nice short elbow.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Fletch connects with a nice short shot to Makounchi's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fletch wants to stand but Makounchi has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Makounchi kicks off Fletch and gets to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Fletch.

Fletch scores a takedown into full mount!
Makounchi is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Makounchi bucks Fletch off and manages to get back to his feet!
Fletch tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Makounchi swivels and escapes.
Fletch throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Makounchi fails with a takedown attempt.
Fletch shoots in for a takedown but Makounchi shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Makounchi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fletch is fending him off so far but Makounchi persists. Nope, Fletch circles away and we're back to standing.
Fletch doesn't manage to clinch there - Makounchi circles away.
Fletch shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Makounchi sprawls well. Makounchi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fletch gets slowly back to his feet.
Makounchi shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Fletch defends it nicely.

Fletch fails to land with a series of punches.
Makounchi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Fletch doesn't manage to clinch there - Makounchi circles away.
Makounchi slips a jab and a cross from Fletch.
Fletch shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Makounchi pinned against the cage. Makounchi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Fletch slaps away a takedown attempt from Makounchi, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Fletch closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Makounchi's guard.

Makounchi has his foot on Fletch's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fletch works his way back into a safe position though.

Makounchi is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Makounchi pushes a forearm under Fletch's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Fletch is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ippo Makounchi!
After winning the bout, Ippo Makounchi thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
