Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Will Shuler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michiel Van Der Geest! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shuler moves into the clinch. Nice body punch from Shuler. Shuler blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Shuler digs a right hand into Van Der Geest's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Van Der Geest's gas tank. Shuler breaks the clinch.

Van Der Geest shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shuler pinned against the cage. Shuler gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Van Der Geest throws a hook to the side of Shuler's head but Shuler sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Van Der Geest throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Van Der Geest connects with a jab. Shuler gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Shuler creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Van Der Geest's defenses.
It looks like Michiel Van Der Geest has been cut. Shuler landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Van Der Geest looks gassed! Van Der Geest doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Shuler turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Shuler scoring with punches and elbows.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shuler decides to stand back up. Van Der Geest swings widly with a right hand
and Shuler moves into the clinch. Shuler jumps guard and drags Van Der Geest to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Van Der Geest looking to sit in guard and control but Shuler gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Van Der Geest wants to sweep here but Shuler controlling him for the moment. Shuler sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Van Der Geest's guard. Shuler lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nice strikes from Shuler there. Shuler works his way into side control. Van Der Geest is working to avoid the ground and pound but Shuler connects with a decent elbow. Shuler looks up at the clock and then as Van Der Geest takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Shuler smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Van Der Geest is trying to escape the position but Shuler is controlling the position. Check out the look on Shuler's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Shuler decides to stand up, so the ref orders Van Der Geest to his feet. Shuler fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Van Der Geest, pushing him back against the cage. Van Der Geest takes a shot to the head. Shuler working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Van Der Geest working aggressively here.
Shuler lands a damaging elbow. Shuler lands an elbow inside that Van Der Geest shrugs off. Shuler blocks an uppercut.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Van Der Geest is trying to break the clinch but Shuler has him pressed against the cage. Shuler gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Shuler putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Van Der Geest in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Shuler comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Shuler works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Shuler taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

That has opened up Michiel Van Der Geest's cut even more. Shuler is pushing Van Der Geest up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. A shot in the inside from Shuler. Van Der Geest misses with a short punch on the inside. Shuler escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Van Der Geest misses with an uppercut. Shuler saw that one coming. Shuler throws a jab when Van Der Geest was well out of range. Shuler throws a head kick that misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Van Der Geest misses with a straight left. Shuler rushes Van Der Geest and presses him up against the cage. Van Der Geest has a couple of punches blocked by Shuler.
Van Der Geest takes an elbow to the temple. Shuler breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Shuler pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Van Der Geest is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent. Shuler shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Shuler raining down hammerfists from mount. Shuler with good strikes from the mount here! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Van Der Geest is in a horrible position here. Shuler smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Shuler looking to finish Van Der Geest with some ground and pound. This is bad for Van Der Geest! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Van Der Geest wants to hold on but Shuler pushes him away. Van Der Geest is bucking up trying to escape but Shuler cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Shuler raining down hammerfists from mount.
Van Der Geest is rocked! Shuler looking to finish Van Der Geest with some ground and pound. This is bad for Van Der Geest! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Will Shuler dominated that round. The cut man is working on Michiel Van Der Geest's cut. That's time! Shuler's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Van Der Geest fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Shuler looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Shuler staying out of range there. Shuler lands a big head kick that sends Van Der Geest tumbling to the mat! Shuler takes a step backwards and waves Van Der Geest back to his feet - he wants the finish! Van Der Geest is still on wobbly legs! Can Shuler finish him? The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Shuler rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Van Der Geest moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Van Der Geest lands with a shot to the body. Shuler closes the distance and pushes Van Der Geest back into the cage. Shuler lands an elbow that stopped Van Der Geest in his tracks for a moment. Shuler slows down the pace here.
Shuler breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Shuler fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Van Der Geest seems to have recovered his senses. Van Der Geest jabbing away but nothing is landing. Van Der Geest tries to keep at a distance but Shuler has taken the fight into the clinch. Van Der Geest misses with a punch on the inside.
Van Der Geest is breathing heavily. Van Der Geest doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Shuler scores with a shoulder strike. Shuler pulls guard. Shuler pushes Van Der Geest off and gets back to his feet.

Shuler lands a knee to the body.
Shuler breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Van Der Geest bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Shuler's head. Shuler steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Van Der Geest. Van Der Geest throws a left and a right that both miss
and Shuler counters with a nice double leg into side control. Van Der Geest won't be happy with that. Will Shuler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Van Der Geest is looking for a sweep. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Shuler is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Van Der Geest has escaped the position, nice work there. Shuler lands a decent elbow from side control. Shuler tries for a kimura but Van Der Geest is defending well. Shuler stands up and beckons Van Der Geest to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shuler changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Van Der Geest looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Shuler connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Van Der Geest some visible discomfort.
Shuler looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Van Der Geest tries to bench press Shuler off him but Shuler keeps the position. Van Der Geest is not content to let Shuler control the position. Shuler lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Van Der Geest down.
Shuler working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Shuler wants to control but Van Der Geest is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Van Der Geest tries to bench press Shuler off him but Shuler keeps the position. Shuler is looking to take a break and control but Van Der Geest is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Shuler tries for a kimura but Van Der Geest is defending well. Shuler is putting a hurting on Van Der Geest here, landing some big shots from side control. Shuler in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Shuler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Van Der Geest is looking to reverse the position. Van Der Geest takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Van Der Geest is looking to regain half guard here but Shuler keeps moving and retains side control. Shuler is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Van Der Geest can do to turn this around? Shuler has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Shuler forces Van Der Geest back against the cage and clinches. Will Shuler has scored more points in the clinch so far. Van Der Geest swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Will Shuler is winning the standup battle so far. Shuler shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Shuler was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Shuler working Van Der Geest over with strikes here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Will Shuler dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Michiel Van Der Geest's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Shuler throws a predictable looking body shot
and Shuler takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Shuler darts in and clinches Van Der Geest up against the cage. A frustrated look appears on Van Der Geest's face as he tries to break the clinch. Shuler lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Shuler is working Van Der Geest over against the cage. Shuler taking a breather. Shuler lands an elbow inside that Van Der Geest shrugs off. Shuler lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Van Der Geest backwards. Shuler escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Van Der Geest misses with a looping right. Van Der Geest might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Van Der Geest tries to bum rush Shuler with a series of wild strikes but Shuler uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Shuler shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Van Der Geest takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Shuler scoring with punches to the head and body. Shuler looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Shuler passes Van Der Geest's left leg - he's now in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shuler wants to control but Van Der Geest is keeping him busy. Shuler trying to control the pace. Shuler working over Van Der Geest with some ground and pound. Van Der Geest looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Shuler looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Van Der Geest with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Shuler is working for a kimura but Van Der Geest is defending it quite comfortably.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Van Der Geest tries to improve position but can't. Shuler scoring with punches and elbows. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Van Der Geest tries to buck Shuler off but Shuler is having none of it. Shuler is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Van Der Geest looks calm but he's in trouble here. Shuler gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Van Der Geest is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Shuler lets go of the hold and Van Der Geest can pop his arm back in it's socket.
