PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Richard Lightfoot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bapit Pradchapet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pradchapet has chosen Wanted Dead or Alive as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bapit Pradchapet was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Richard Lightfoot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bapit Pradchapet!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Joseph Jones and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A thudding body kick lands there by Pradchapet!
Lightfoot throws a leg kick but Pradchapet moved away.
Pradchapet throws a head kick that misses.
Pradchapet uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lightfoot.
Lightfoot goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Pradchapet scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Pradchapet slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Lightfoot throws a leg kick that misses.
Lightfoot throws a body kick that misses.
Lightfoot misses with a shot to the body
and Pradchapet counters with a thumping low kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pradchapet shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lightfoot sprawls well. Lightfoot wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pradchapet gets slowly back to his feet.
Lightfoot throws a lazy right hand but Pradchapet sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Pradchapet changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lightfoot tries to avoid it but Pradchapet manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lightfoot to the ground. Lightfoot escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Pradchapet lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Lightfoot has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Lightfoot and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
A looping hook to the body misses from Lightfoot. Pradchapet does a little dance to reset his feet.
Lightfoot has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Pradchapet.

Pradchapet throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Pradchapet lands a jab to the head.

Pradchapet throws a low kick but Lightfoot avoids it.

Pradchapet scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Lightfoot doesn't seem bothered though.

and Pradchapet counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Richard Lightfoot seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lightfoot is looking to wear down Pradchapet with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Richard Lightfoot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bapit Pradchapet.

Pradchapet misses with a low kick as Lightfoot jumps back.
The crowd cheers as Pradchapet lands an impressive looking overhand right. Lightfoot doesn't seem phased though.
Pradchapet dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Pradchapet dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Lightfoot. That did some damage!

Pradchapet gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Lightfoot breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pradchapet lands with an overhand left.
Richard Lightfoot is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Pradchapet doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Lightfoot will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pradchapet throws a jab when Lightfoot was well out of range.
Lightfoot tries to bum rush Pradchapet with a series of wild strikes but Pradchapet uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pradchapet fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Lightfoot.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Lightfoot, as that shot connected.
Pradchapet moves into range and connects with a jab.
Lightfoot uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pradchapet.
Lightfoot thows a body shot but no joy.
Pradchapet showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lightfoot.
Pradchapet is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Lightfoot had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Lightfoot lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

It looks like Richard Lightfoot has been cut.
Lightfoot tries to land knees in the clinch but Pradchapet avoids the damage to the body.
Pradchapet has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lightfoot avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Pradchapet pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pradchapet scoring well with a low kick there.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Pradchapet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Bapit Pradchapet showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Lightfoot fakes the leg kick and cracks Pradchapet in the body.
Pradchapet dives in and grabs Lightfoot's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lightfoot pushes down on Pradchapet's head and hops out.

Lightfoot will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Pradchapet closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pradchapet throws an elbow but Lightfoot slips to the side and avoids it well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lightfoot has his foot on Pradchapet's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pradchapet works his way back into a safe position though.

Well Pradchapet has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
