Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robbie Bruce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jay Firestone!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Skip Squint and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bruce gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Bruce pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Firestone manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Bruce on his heels. He'll look to pass Bruce's guard now, I'm sure.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Bruce is trying to hold Firestone in close to prevent damage but Firestone has managed to pass into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Firestone lands a nice short elbow.

Firestone has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Firestone has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Firestone takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Firestone looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Firestone with shots to the head and body - Bruce looks very uncomfortable down there.
Firestone sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Firestone's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Let's hope that Firestone has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jay Firestone wasn't active enough on the ground.

Firestone closes the distance and pushes Bruce back into the cage.
Firestone tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bruce smiles and moves away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bruce cracks Firestone with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Firestone feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bruce is breathing heavily.
Firestone not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Firestone works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Firestone stalling.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bruce looks like he's trying to stand up.

Firestone maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Bruce could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Firestone has cracked it and Bruce is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Firestone!

After winning the bout, Jay Firestone thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
