Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Renan Barao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guy Lightening (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barao comes into the arena with All I Do is Win blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barao lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Lightening closes the distance and clinches.

Lightening breaks the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Barao. No joy for Lightening on that attempt.
Lightening swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lightening should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Barao's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Barao throws a hook to the side of Lightening's head but Lightening sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Lightening throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Barao's waist but Barao gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lightening off to one side.

Lightening shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barao but Barao pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Lightening fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Guy Lightening dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Barao throws a head kick that Lightening semi-blocks.
Lightening has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Lightening there as he acknowledges the shot.

Barao leaves Lightening with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Lightening throws a right and a left that Barao avoids nicely.
Lightening keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Lightening shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Lightening was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Lightening throws some wild stikes that Barao manages to avoid easily.
Lightening looking to ground and pound but Barao is blocking nicely.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Lightening has eaten all the pies!
Lightening pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Barao regains half guard.
Lightening thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Barao's head.

Lightening wants to free his trapped foot but Barao is holding on for dear life with his legs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Barao is trying to get back to full guard.
Lightening looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Barao with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Lightening decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Barao throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Lightening.

Lightening's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Lightening duly obliges.

Guy Lightening showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Lightening closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Barao quickly recovers to half guard.

Lightening throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Barao stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Barao shoots for a takedown but Lightening saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Guy Lightening seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lightening tries to bum rush Barao with a series of wild strikes but Barao uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Lightening rushes Barao and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Lightening escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Lightening on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Barao. Barao obviously looking to wear him down.
Lightening's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Lightening comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Guy Lightening seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Barao moves in looking to clinch but Lightening pushes him off.
Lightening lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Barao circles away quickly and effectively.

Guy Lightening is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Barao feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Lightening's calf.

Barao has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lightening avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Well Lightening has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
