PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sopheap Seng (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Sopheap Seng!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Victor Stevens!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seng blocks a head kick by Stevens.
Stevens is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Stevens on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Seng avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Seng scores with a shot to the body.
Seng pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Seng lands with a hook. Stevens tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Stevens tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Stevens fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Seng manages to avoid it.
Seng ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Stevens tries to close the distance and clinch but Seng swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Stevens tries to clinch but Seng is having none of it.

Seng changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Stevens looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Seng stands up and beckons Stevens to his feet.

Stevens misses with a jab, cross combination.
Stevens thows a body shot but no joy.
Stevens misses with a jab, cross combination.
Seng misses the shot to the body.
Seng throws a right and a left that both miss.
Seng stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Stevens tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Stevens tries a head kick but it misses.
Seng bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Stevens looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Seng closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Stevens did well to prevent Seng getting side control.
Stevens looks gassed!

Seng decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Seng dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Stevens. That did some damage!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Seng connects with a leg kick. Stevens looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Seng feints and then cracks Stevens's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Stevens down.
Seng takes a jab right on the kisser.

Seng throws a nice inside leg kick.
Seng thumps Stevens with a low kick.
Seng lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Stevens tries a head kick but it misses.
Seng scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Stevens takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Stevens throws a head kick that misses.
Stevens throws a sloppy head kick and Seng moves out of range easily.
Stevens throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Stevens takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Seng scores with a nice strike.
Seng is looking to slow Stevens down with leg kicks.
Stevens tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Seng paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Seng scores with a one two! Stevens had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
A chopping leg kick lands by Seng.
Stevens tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Seng manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Seng counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Seng stands up out of the half guard.
Seng connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Stevens takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Seng closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Seng lands in his opponent's guard.

Seng decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Stevens's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Seng shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Stevens is trying to defend but Seng finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Seng decides to return to a standing position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Stevens throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Seng.

Stevens gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Seng stands up from Stevens's guard - Seng perhaps looking for a knockout.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Seng throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Seng cracks Stevens with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Victor Stevens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stevens throws a hook to the side of Seng's head but Seng sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Seng drives through with a takedown into guard.

Seng gets to his feet. Stevens looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sopheap Seng dominated that round.
That's time! Seng's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Seng circles away from the clinch attempt
letting Seng counter with a right hand.
Sopheap Seng is winning the standup battle so far.
Seng connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Seng throws a body punch but Stevens moves out of range.
Stevens tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Seng counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Seng throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Seng swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Victor Stevens is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stevens tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Seng lands a jab.
Seng throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Stevens stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
A solid leg kick lands there for Seng.
Seng is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Stevens can do to turn this around?
Seng lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Stevens tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Seng manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Stevens misses with a wild combination.

Seng closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Stevens did well to prevent Seng getting side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stevens is breathing heavily.

Seng stands up and beckons Stevens to join him on the feet.
Stevens throws a nice looking combination but Seng bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Seng scores with a nice strike.
Stevens throws a head kick that misses.
Seng's jab looks to have found its range, popping Stevens under the eye.
Seng throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Stevens's head.
Stevens throws a right hand that Seng ducks under and follows up with a left that Seng also avoids with ease.
Seng jabs Stevens right on the nose. Stevens blinks but takes it well.

Seng closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Stevens to the mat! Stevens manages to get full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Seng stands up and waves to Stevens to follow him.
Seng moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Seng pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Stevens back to the cage. Seng follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


Stevens is rocked!
Seng cracks Stevens with a good jab.
Stevens is still on wobbly legs! Can Seng finish him?
Seng lands with a shot to the body.
Seng fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Seng is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Stevens hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Sopheap Seng!
Sopheap Seng decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
