Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dan Dotson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Emerson Montain! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksandr Martynov and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Montain dodges the punch combination from Dotson.
Montain takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Montain tries for a takedown but Dotson circles away easily letting Dotson counter with a right hand. Emerson Montain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dotson lands a nice shot that snaps Montain's head back.
Montain shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dotson is trying to defend but Montain finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Dotson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Dotson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Montain is controlling him. Montain trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Dotson manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Dotson tries to free his leg and advance position but Montain is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Montain looking for a sweep. Not yet Montain, not yet. Dotson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Montain is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Dotson wants to control from the top but Montain keeps moving. Dotson stopping the sweep attempt from Montain.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Dotson moves into range and connects with a jab. Montain shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dotson sprawls well. Dotson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Montain gets slowly back to his feet. Dotson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Montain circles away quickly and effectively. Dotson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dotson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dotson wants it to stay on the feet. Dan Dotson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Emerson Montain. Montain tries for a takedown but Dotson circles away easily and Dotson counters with a nice leg kick. Dotson misses with a few strikes there.
Montain fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dotson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Montain fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Montain fails with the takedown. This has been an exciting period of action! Dotson throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Montain closes the distance and clinches up with Dotson, looking for a takedown. Montain pushes Dotson against the cage but Dotson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. No luck for Montain with that takedown attempt. Montain looks gassed! Montain dives in and grabs Dotson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dotson pushes down on Montain's head and hops out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Montain misses with a takedown attempt - Dotson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Dotson keeps the fight on the outside. Dotson drops Montain with a left and a right! Oh, Montain is hurt - Dotson dives into side control looking to finish!
Montain is rocked!
It looks like Emerson Montain has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Dotson trying to control the action but Montain is working from the bottom. Montain is still in real trouble! Can Dotson finish him? Montain seems to have recovered his senses. Dotson working away. Dotson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Dotson decides to take the fight back to the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Montain tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Dotson throws a right and a left that both miss. Montain dives in and grabs Dotson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dotson pushes down on Montain's head and hops out. Dotson misses with a two punch combination.
Dotson throws a nice looking combination but Montain bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Montain shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dotson pinned against the cage. Dotson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Montain shoots and misses and Dotson counters with a series of strikes that sends Montain to the canvas! Dotson follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight! Montain keeping moving, preventing Dotson from controlling successfully. Montain is trying to control the position but Dotson postures up. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Dotson looking to pass the guard. Montain looking to sweep here. No luck so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dan Dotson dominated that round. The cut man is working on Emerson Montain's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Montain closes the distance looking to clinch and Dotson counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Montain off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Dotson follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Montain was out before he hit the floor.
