Russo has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Marty Block has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Kento Russo's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marty Block!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russo lands a two punch combo.
Russo fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Russo lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Russo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kento Russo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Block on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Russo stuns Block with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Russo is rocked!
Block has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Russo's face.
Oh Russo is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Russo is in all sorts of trouble here.
Russo sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Russo seems to have got his legs back now.
Block really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Russo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Russo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Block manages to get himself to full guard.
Block manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Russo wants to hold on but Block pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Russo regains half guard.
Block not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Russo is trying to get back to full guard.
Block trying to mount his opponent but Russo defends it.
Russo wants to control but Block is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Block bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Block trying to control the action but Russo is working from the bottom.
Block cracks Russo with a big elbow.
Block lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Block working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
A big shot lands for Block! That's hurt Russo! Will he recover? Block fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
