Palhares's entrance music is Cutty Ranks - Limb by Limb. A fine choice. Oliveira has chosen Eddie Bravo SMOKE SERPENT "Jiu Jitsu" feat. Rakaa as his entrance music. Rousimar Palhares could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Paulo Oliveira's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rousimar Palhares!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Oliveira!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palhares misses with a takedown attempt - Oliveira sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Oliveira looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Palhares rushes Oliveira and presses him up against the cage.
Oliveira gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Palhares has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Oliveira off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Palhares scores with a takedown into Oliveira's guard.
Palhares slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Palhares wants to control from the top but Oliveira keeps moving.
Oliveira working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Palhares doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Palhares manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Palhares postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Palhares drops back looking for a leg! Oliveira is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Oliveira manages to kick Palhares off! Palhares jumps back into Oliveira's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Palhares forces his way into half guard.
Palhares thows a huge punch but Oliveira dodges it nicely.
Palhares is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Oliveira doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Palhares.
Oliveira is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Palhares scores with a couple of nice shots.
Palhares is looking for a kimura but Oliveira is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Palhares to get the leverage.
Palhares is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Oliveira is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rousimar Palhares!
A relieved looking Rousimar Palhares thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
