PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brazilian Experiment I (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jiri Ahokas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ahokas has chosen Shoot to Thrill by AC/DC as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Jiri Ahokas has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brazilian Experiment I!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jiri Ahokas!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Sano and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ahokas thows a body shot but no joy.
Ahokas tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Ahokas throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Experiment I sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Experiment I drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Experiment I wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ahokas, who protects the arm well.
Ahokas is trying to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Experiment I lands a few punches from side control.
You can see the frustration on Ahokas's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Experiment I working the ground and pound but Ahokas is defending the strikes.
Experiment I wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ahokas keeps working.
Experiment I will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ahokas tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Experiment I looks up at the clock and then as Ahokas takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Experiment I smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Ahokas takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Experiment I looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Experiment I working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Ahokas is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Experiment I's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Ahokas is looking to control Experiment I's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ahokas avoid being mounted?

Ahokas is defending against the submission attempts here by Experiment I.

Experiment I is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ahokas is just riding it out for now. Experiment I eventually gives up the hold.
Ahokas is trying to control but can't.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ahokas tries to get to full guard but Experiment I has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ahokas is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Experiment I pulls his head out easily.

Experiment I is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Experiment I seems to be working for a kimura but Ahokas defends the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brazilian Experiment I dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Experiment I stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ahokas.
Experiment I takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Horrible takedown by Experiment I or perhaps it was just good defense by Ahokas which made him look bad.

Experiment I moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Ahokas tries to land a leg kick but Experiment I saw it coming and moves away.
Ahokas throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Experiment I shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ahokas defends it nicely.

Ahokas fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Experiment I is out of range.

Experiment I is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ahokas has managed to free his arm - good work.

Experiment I throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Ahokas blocks it with crossed arms.
Experiment I is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Ahokas is defending well for now.

Experiment I breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

I think Ahokas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
