Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Desjardins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Ferguson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Desjardins comes to the cage accompanied by Bob Marley - I Shot The Sheriff. On his way into the cage it seems that Jonathan Desjardins has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jonathan Desjardins seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jonathan Desjardins! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tony Ferguson! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Illya Tyunina and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Desjardins shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ferguson defends it nicely. A jab from Ferguson misses. Desjardins steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ferguson. Jonathan Desjardins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Desjardins showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ferguson.
Desjardins shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Desjardins lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Desjardins. Desjardins gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Desjardins tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ferguson was well out of range. Poor timing from Desjardins. Desjardins throws a nice inside leg kick. Desjardins moves out of range as Ferguson strikes. Ferguson avoids a kick to the body.
Desjardins throws a series of punches but Ferguson avoids them all with ease. Desjardins misses the jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Desjardins waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Ferguson. Desjardins drives through with a takedown into Ferguson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Ferguson wants to sweep but no luck. Ferguson keeping full guard, as Desjardins tries to pass. Ferguson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Desjardins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Desjardins wants to control from the top but Ferguson keeps moving.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Jonathan Desjardins just wasn't active enough. Desjardins throws a lazy uppercut
and Ferguson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Desjardins closes the distance and clinches up with Ferguson, looking for a takedown. Desjardins pushes Ferguson against the cage but Ferguson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ferguson throws a hook but Desjardins avoids it easily. Desjardins avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ferguson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Desjardins. Desjardins shoots and misses and Ferguson counters with a one-two to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jonathan Desjardins. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ferguson misses with a straight right. Desjardins fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ferguson sprawls well initially but Desjardins persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Desjardins is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Ferguson still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Ferguson has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Desjardins manages to get back to half guard. Ferguson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Desjardins wants to get back to full guard. Desjardins slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Ferguson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Desjardins trying to control the position.
Ferguson is stalling in the full guard. Desjardins preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Desjardins not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Desjardins is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Desjardins is trying to control the position but Ferguson postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ferguson is sitting in close to Desjardins's body. Desjardins has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Ferguson is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Ferguson is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Desjardins.
