Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Yutaro Chiba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rousimar Palhares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yutaro Chiba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rousimar Palhares!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Fedor Mirinova and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palhares fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Chiba avoids it really well and circles away.

Chiba shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Palhares defends it nicely.

Chiba shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Palhares pinned against the cage. Palhares gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Palhares drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Chiba manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Palhares has Chiba in his guard.

Yutaro Chiba has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Chiba shoots in for a takedown but Palhares shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Chiba is just content to waste time from the top position. Palhares takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Yutaro Chiba will probably get the nod.

Palhares keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Palhares throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chiba's waist but Chiba gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Palhares off to one side.
Palhares closes the distance and clinches up with Chiba, looking for a takedown. Palhares pushes Chiba against the cage but Chiba circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Chiba shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Palhares sprawls well. Palhares wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Chiba gets slowly back to his feet.
Chiba changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Palhares tries to avoid it but Chiba manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Palhares to the ground. Palhares escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yutaro Chiba. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Chiba looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Chiba dives in and grabs Palhares's left leg, looking for a takedown. Palhares pushes down on Chiba's head and hops out.

No luck for Chiba with that takedown attempt.
Chiba tries to score a power double leg takedown but Palhares sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Chiba somewhat.

Rousimar Palhares is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Chiba tries for a takedown but Palhares sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Chiba shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Palhares is trying to defend but Chiba finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Palhares has momentary wrist control but Chiba slips an elbow through the middle.

I really don't envy Chiba right now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Chiba is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Palhares gets his way!

Rousimar Palhares showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Chiba is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Chiba escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Palhares gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Rousimar Palhares.
Chiba shoots in looking for a takedown. Palhares tries to sprawl out of it but Chiba keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Palhares manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Chiba stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Chiba wants it to stay on the feet.

Palhares shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Palhares was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Palhares sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Palhares moves nicely into side control.

Palhares is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Chiba has escaped the position, nice work there.
Palhares takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Palhares gets to mount! Chiba was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Chiba is in all sorts of trouble here.

Well Palhares has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
