Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tommy Burns! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gangster Samurai! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burns lands a nice hook to Samurai's body. Samurai takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Burns!
Samurai shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Burns defends it nicely. Samurai shoots in but no luck this time. Burns keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Tommy Burns has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gangster Samurai. Samurai misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Samurai throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Burns's waist but Burns gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Samurai off to one side. Samurai looks gassed! Burns tests Samurai's chin there with a solid looking shot. Samurai fails with a takedown attempt. Samurai moves forwards but Burns connects with a nice, crisp jab. Samurai takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Burns throws a series of strikes that have Samurai backpedaling.
Burns displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Burns shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Samurai eats them both and turns towards Burns to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Burns scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Burns, as that shot connected.
Samurai gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Burns. Samurai has a takedown stuffed. Burns jabs Samurai to the body, keeping him at a distance. Burns digs a good body shot into Samurai's ribs. Burns lands a slapping body shot.
Samurai closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Burns quickly recovers to half guard. Burns is holding on to half guard well. Samurai is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Burns is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Samurai seems to be looking for submissions.
Samurai is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Burns defends it well. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Samurai is trying to work for a kimura but Burns is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Samurai works his way into full mount! Samurai working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Samurai is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Burns can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Samurai is working for a guillotine from mount but Burns frees his head quite easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Samurai is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Samurai!
