PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Samuel De Lucas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darth Vader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). De Lucas comes to the cage accompanied by Apaga mais não bate. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Darth Vader was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Samuel De Lucas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Darth Vader!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Edson Gomes and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Lucas scores with a leg kick.
Vader fails with an attempt to clinch.
De Lucas misses with a straight left.
Vader uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by De Lucas.

Vader is looking to clinch but De Lucas is avoiding it.
Vader throws a head kick that misses.
Vader is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
De Lucas circles away from the clinch attempt.
Vader tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but De Lucas swivels and escapes.
Vader changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. De Lucas tries to avoid it but Vader manages to keep hold of a leg and drag De Lucas to the ground. De Lucas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

De Lucas does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
De Lucas lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
De Lucas throws the left hand but Vader avoids the punch easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Vader.
Samuel De Lucas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Darth Vader.

De Lucas will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Horrible takedown by Vader or perhaps it was just good defense by De Lucas which made him look bad.

Vader with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling De Lucas to score with a decent uppercut.
Vader looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

De Lucas could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

De Lucas throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Vader shoots in for a takedown but De Lucas shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The crowd cheers as De Lucas lands an impressive looking overhand right. Vader doesn't seem phased though.

De Lucas closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Vader's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
De Lucas stands up over Vader, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Samuel De Lucas.

De Lucas scores with the left hand. Vader knows he should have avoided that one.
De Lucas lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The fighters circling - De Lucas throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Vader manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Vader is trying to control. De Lucas wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vader wants to get up but he can't break De Lucas's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Vader throws a sloppy head kick and De Lucas moves out of range easily.
De Lucas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vader manages to avoid it.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, De Lucas cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
De Lucas has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Vader's face.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vader can do anything to dispel that myth.
Vader wants to hold on but De Lucas pushes him away.

De Lucas is landing with some decent strikes but Vader is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Samuel De Lucas decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
