Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jaakko Parantainen! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dino Medvidovic! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Fujiwara and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Medvidovic clinches up with Parantainen and pushes him back against the cage. Medvidovic stops a takedown attempt from Parantainen.
Medvidovic manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Parantainen has gone for a leg lock! Medvidovic slips out almost immediately though and dives into Parantainen's guard. Parantainen looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Medvidovic puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Parantainen tries to roll over but Medvidovic keeps him under control. Parantainen regains full guard. Nicely done. Parantainen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Parantainen is trying to keep Medvidovic in close.

That's one minute gone in the round. Medvidovic forces his way into half guard. Parantainen taking some punishment here, with Medvidovic in his half guard. Parantainen tries to get to full guard but Medvidovic has control of the leg. Medvidovic thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Medvidovic trying to control the pace. Medvidovic looking to secure an arm triangle but Parantainen defends it well. Medvidovic tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Parantainen manages to regain half guard. Good work. Medvidovic should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Parantainen wants to improve his position but Medvidovic is controlling well.

Medvidovic wants to control but Parantainen is keeping him busy. Parantainen moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Parantainen is trying to keep Medvidovic in close.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Medvidovic tries to close the distance and clinch but Parantainen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Medvidovic gets the takedown into side control. Medvidovic tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Medvidovic has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Medvidovic stands up and beckons Parantainen to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Parantainen with a poor takedown and Medvidovic counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Medvidovic. Medvidovic works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Parantainen is working for takedown but Medvidovic is calmly controlling the position for now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jaakko Parantainen. That's going to take a lot out of him. Parantainen wants a takedown but no success here.

Dino Medvidovic dominated that round. That's time! Parantainen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Medvidovic misses with a takedown and Parantainen counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Medvidovic's guard now. Medvidovic not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Parantainen is thwarting Medvidovic's attempts to control the position. Parantainen looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Parantainen is working hard here to advance position. Parantainen thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Medvidovic to regain full guard. Medvidovic looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Medvidovic escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Parantainen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Parantainen preventing the sweep. Parantainen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Parantainen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Medvidovic manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Parantainen manages to get himself to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Parantainen manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
