Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Edmundo Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Antonio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Edmundo Jr! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Antonio! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Antonio shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Antonio showed some decent athleticism there. Antonio is pressing down on Jr's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jr is holding on for now. Antonio trying to control from Jr's half guard. Jr has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Antonio looking to pass the guard. Jr has Antonio pulled in close to control his posture. Jr is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Antonio is controlling him. Jr utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Antonio pushes down on Jr's leg and manages to get into half guard. Antonio is pressing down on Jr's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jr is holding on for now. Jr desperately trying to maintain half guard. Jr wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Antonio trying to pass the guard but Jr defending well. Antonio throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Antonio is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Jr is doing well to control the position and prevent Antonio from advancing to side control. Antonio wants to free his trapped foot but Jr is holding on for dear life with his legs. Jr wants to improve his position but Antonio is controlling well.
Antonio throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Jr wants to get back to his feet. Jr trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Antonio throwing shots but Jr is blocking nicely.

Antonio is fighting to break Jr's control of his arms but Jr is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Antonio slips nicely into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Antonio lands strikes from half guard. Jr kicks off Antonio and gets to his feet. Jr fails with a takedown attempt. Antonio moves in looking to clinch but Jr pushes him off. Jr shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Antonio defends it nicely. Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Antonio shoots for a takedown but Jr saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jr keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Paulo Antonio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Antonio shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jr's guard. Antonio passes Jr's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Antonio is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jr doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Antonio. Antonio misses with a head shot. Jr uses the momentum to regain guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jr controlling the position. Antonio pushing down on Jr's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jr is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Antonio's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Antonio's back! Jr is landing with strikes. Antonio can't take much more of this. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Antonio rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Antonio is trying to get back to full guard. Jr seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Jr wants to take a breather but Antonio is having none of it. Jr lands strikes from half guard. Jr not landing any meaningful shots this time. Antonio is trying to get back to full guard. Jr drops an elbow to the side of Antonio's head. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Jr seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Antonio does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Antonio tries to get to full guard but Jr has control of the leg. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Antonio taking some punishment here, with Jr in his half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Paulo Antonio will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Jr closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Jr is nestled in close to Antonio, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Jr prevents Antonio from improving his position. Jr controlling the action here. Antonio has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jr is thwarting Antonio's attempts to control the position. Jr scoring with strikes to the body and head. Edmundo Jr overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Antonio has hold of Jr's hands but Jr slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Antonio gets full guard. Jr avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jr stands up over Antonio, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. This has been an exciting period of action! Antonio looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Antonio bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jr's guard. Jr keeping full guard, as Antonio tries to pass. Jr wants to stand but Antonio is controlling the position. Jr is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Antonio looking for a takedown.

Antonio is fighting off a takedown attempt but Jr is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Antonio to the mat. Antonio regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Jr wants to pass the guard but Antonio is keeping the position. Antonio manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jr wants to get back to his feet.

Paulo Antonio showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Antonio shoots in for a double leg but Jr sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Antonio shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jr but Jr pushes him off and we're back to square one. Jr feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Jr working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Antonio's head. Jr stops Antonio from standing up. Antonio is trying to keep Jr in close.

Antonio stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jr swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jr pushes Antonio off and scrambles back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Antonio has a takedown stuffed. Edmundo Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paulo Antonio. Jr tries to score a power double leg takedown but Antonio sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jr somewhat. Antonio shoots in looking for a takedown but Jr manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Antonio's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Antonio takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Jr drives through with a takedown into guard. Antonio tries to land a sweep but no joy. Antonio keeping moving, preventing Jr from controlling successfully. Jr looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Jr passes into half guard.

Antonio is rocked! Jr in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Antonio looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Jr turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
