PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bam Bam Bigelow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Nasri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bam Bam Bigelow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Nasri!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nasri drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Bigelow sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Nasri looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Bigelow is refusing to be controlled, as Nasri sits in half guard.
Bigelow regains full guard. Nicely done.
Bigelow looking to control.
Bigelow looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nasri is one step ahead there.

Bigelow has his foot on Nasri's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nasri works his way back into a safe position though.
Nasri trying to control but Bigelow is working from the bottom.

Bigelow manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Bigelow jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Nasri manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Nasri is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Bigelow trying to control the position but Nasri is working away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bigelow taking a break here but Nasri is having none of it and regains half guard.
Bigelow throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Bigelow is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nasri is just riding it out for now. Bigelow eventually gives up the hold.

Bigelow is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nasri defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bigelow missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Bigelow is working for a submission of some sort.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Bigelow is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Nasri has managed to free his arm - good work.

Bigelow is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Bigelow is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Nasri sees it coming and defends easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bam Bam Bigelow dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Bigelow gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nasri won't allow Bigelow to sweep him here.
Nasri prevents Bigelow from getting back to his feet.
Bigelow keeping moving, preventing Nasri from controlling successfully.
Bigelow is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Nasri is controlling him.
Nasri must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Bigelow controls Nasri momentarily but Nasri frees himself.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Bigelow looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nasri is fending him off so far but Bigelow persists. Nope, Nasri circles away and we're back to standing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Nasri shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Nasri was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Bigelow is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Bigelow tries to lock up and control but Nasri gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Nasri tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Bam Bam Bigelow overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Nasri raining down shots from the mount!

Nasri lands a nice shot to the head.


It looks like Bam Bam Bigelow has been cut.
Bigelow tries to reverse the position but Nasri maintains control.

Bigelow wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nasri in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Nasri looking to control but Bigelow is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Bigelow manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Bigelow is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Nasri performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Nasri tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bigelow knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Nasri wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bigelow keeps working.
Nasri is taking a breather. Bigelow says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Frank Nasri.
Bigelow tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nasri swivels and escapes.
Bam Bam Bigelow is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bigelow tries for a takedown but Nasri circles away easily
and Nasri counters with a straight right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bam Bam Bigelow. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nasri dives in and scores a takedown into Bigelow's guard.
Bigelow has a closed guard, preventing Nasri from standing up.

Nasri tries to free his leg and advance position but Bigelow is retaining full guard.

Bigelow looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Nasri is defending well. Bigelow quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Nasri has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Bigelow celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Bam Bam Bigelow!
Bam Bam Bigelow really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Red Bills clothing logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
