PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Nakarima Hakata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Bradshaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bradshaw has chosen Master of Puppets as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nakarima Hakata!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Bradshaw!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hakata misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hakata keeps the fight on the outside.

Bradshaw gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Bradshaw keeping moving, preventing Hakata from controlling successfully.
Hakata with a flurry of punches that miss.
Hakata pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bradshaw is keeping the position for now.
Hakata slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hakata would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Bradshaw wants to stand but Hakata is controlling the position.
Hakata trying to control the position from guard on top but Bradshaw is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hakata advances to half guard.
It looks like Hakata is going to stand back up.
Hakata is looking to stall here but Bradshaw recovers full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Bradshaw has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hakata can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Bradshaw looks gassed!
Hakata passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Hakata is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Bradshaw's shoulder. That is not cool.
Hakata looks up at the clock and then as Bradshaw takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Hakata smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Hakata has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Bradshaw doesn't manage to clinch there - Hakata circles away.

Hakata fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bradshaw sprawls well initially but Hakata persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Bradshaw is refusing to be controlled, as Hakata sits in half guard.
Hakata moves nicely into side control.

Hakata tries for a kimura but Bradshaw is defending well.

Hakata works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Hakata wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bradshaw keeps working.

Hakata stands up.
Hakata looks for a takedown but Bradshaw sprawls well.
Hakata keeps the fight on the outside.

Bradshaw has closed the distance and engaged Hakata in a clinch.
Bradshaw landing some nice looking knees to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nakarima Hakata dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Bradshaw counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bradshaw.

Hakata is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Hakata really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Bradshaw keeps control of Hakata as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Hakata tries to break the clinch but Bradshaw is controlling the position.
Hakata is trying to maintain a safe position but Bradshaw gets an underhook and turns Hakata into the cage.
Bradshaw lands an elbow just above Hakata 's eye.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Hakata drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nakarima Hakata. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bradshaw connects with a nasty looking knee right to Hakata's face.
Hakata is looking to break free of the clinch but Bradshaw has double underhooks.

Bradshaw lands an elbow that stopped Hakata in his tracks for a moment.
Hakata fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Michael Bradshaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bradshaw doesn't manage to clinch there - Hakata circles away.
Hakata fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bradshaw tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hakata paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hakata swings for the body but Bradshaw moves out of range.

Nakarima Hakata is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hakata gets the takedown into side control.
Bradshaw pushes Hakata away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hakata gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Bradshaw wants to control but Hakata postures up.
Bradshaw wants to get back to his feet but Hakata drags him back down.
Bradshaw tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Hakata works to advance to full mount. Bradshaw defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Bradshaw is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Hakata wants to control the pace but Bradshaw is squirming around nicely.

Hakata working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Bradshaw is trying to stand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hakata in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Bradshaw tries to hold on but Hakata postures up.
Bradshaw tries to buck Hakata off but Hakata takes his back!
Hakata is trying to stick to Bradshaw's back but Bradshaw is turning into Hakata. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hakata's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Bradshaw.
Bradshaw would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hakata is on top in guard.
Bradshaw controls Hakata momentarily but Hakata frees himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hakata pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bradshaw is keeping the position for now.
Hakata is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Hakata throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bradshaw works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hakata stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bradshaw swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hakata has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bradshaw is proving hard to escape from.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Bradshaw moves in looking to clinch but Hakata pushes him off.

and Hakata counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bradshaw won't be happy with that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hakata throwing strikes but Bradshaw manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Hakata manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Hakata is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Bradshaw moves into range and clinches up with Hakata.

Hakata ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hakata no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Bradshaw must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hakata has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bradshaw is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Bradshaw connects with a knee right up the middle there - that's rocked Hakata badly! Hakata tumbles to the floor and Bradshaw stands over him, dominant and satisfied with his glorious KO victory!
