Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Calix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Ramirez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Calix!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lance Ramirez!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calix thows a body shot but no joy.

Ramirez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Calix is being controlled here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Lance Ramirez wasn't active enough on the ground.

Ramirez shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Ramirez wants to control but Calix is keeping him busy.

Ramirez is trying to work for a kimura but Calix is defending well.
Ramirez seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Calix wants to get back to his feet.
Still in half guard, Ramirez seems content to control.
It looks like Ramirez might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Ramirez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Calix. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Calix wants to get back to his feet.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Lance Ramirez wasn't active enough on the ground.
Ramirez tries to work over Calix's front leg with a kick but Calix checks it.

Calix instigates a clinch.

Ramirez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ramirez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Ramirez controls Calix momentarily but Calix frees himself.
Calix wants to get up but he can't break Ramirez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Ramirez has Calix pulled in close to control his posture.
Calix trying to control but Ramirez is working from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Ramirez fails in his attempt to clinch.
Calix is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Calix doesn't manage to clinch there - Ramirez circles away.

Ramirez has closed the distance and engaged Calix in a clinch.
Calix looking to throw knees to the head but Ramirez is blocking nicely.

Ramirez has Calix pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Ramirez pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Calix tumbling to the mat - Ramirez dives into Calix's guard.

Calix is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ramirez defends well.
Ramirez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Calix swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Calix escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ramirez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lance Ramirez dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Calix connects with a right hand. Ramirez shakes it off.
Calix throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ramirez.

Ramirez looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Calix!
Calix is trying to stand up.

Ramirez is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Ramirez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Calix sprawls well initially but Ramirez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ramirez is pressing down on Calix's thigh, looking to free his foot. Calix is holding on for now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Calix is trying to maintain the position but Ramirez is very close to passing his half guard.
Lance Ramirez has got the better of the ground game so far.

Calix is looking to improve his position.

Ramirez is controlling the pace.

Ramirez is pressing down on Calix's thigh, looking to free his foot. Calix is holding on for now.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Ramirez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Calix defends it well.

Calix has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ramirez is working away from the top position though.
Calix is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ramirez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Calix does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ramirez pivots, looking for a leg kick but Calix is out of range and Ramirez settles back down.

Ramirez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Calix swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ramirez doesn't manage to clinch there - Calix circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lance Ramirez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Calix got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ramirez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Calix has managed to get both his arms back between Ramirez's legs - danger averted.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Calix is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Calix is refusing to be controlled, as Ramirez sits in half guard.
Calix regains full guard. Nicely done.
Ramirez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Calix wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The fight stays on the outside here - Calix looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Ramirez. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Ramirez gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Calix tries for a takedown but Ramirez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Calix gets caught napping as Ramirez dives in and scores a takedown. Calix manages to retain guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Lance Ramirez hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Calix looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ramirez is fending him off so far but Calix persists. Nope, Ramirez circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Antonio Calix. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ramirez throws a right and a left that Calix avoids nicely.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ramirez.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ramirez enables Calix to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ramirez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Calix will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ramirez wants to sweep here but Calix controlling him for the moment.

Lance Ramirez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Ramirez winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
