Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Maximus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marcus Maximus is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcus Maximus!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves fakes the leg kick and cracks Maximus in the body.
Alves tries to clinch up but Maximus circles away and keeps his distance.
Maximus closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Maximus lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Alves tries to bench press Maximus off him but Maximus keeps the position.
Alves looking for a sweep but Maximus has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Alves bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Alves wants to control from the top but Maximus keeps moving.
Maximus has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Alves has passed into side control.
Alves wants to stand but Maximus is controlling his arm.
Maximus stops Alves from passing to mount.
Maximus is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Alves off and has taken his back!
Maximus cracks Alves with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Alves from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Maximus lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Maximus.

Alves is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Maximus throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Alves!
Alves controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Alves rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Alves is looking for a sweep. Maximus is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Maximus is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Maximus has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Maximus is taking a breather. Alves says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Alves has hold of Maximus's hands but Maximus slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Maximus wants to control but Alves is keeping him busy.

Maximus is trying to control the action in half guard but Alves is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Maximus wants to control but Alves is keeping him busy.
Maximus might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Alves kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Maximus looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Maximus seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Maximus is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Alves doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Maximus.

Despite being in the dominant position, Marcus Maximus just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Alves tries for a takedown but Maximus circles away easily
and Maximus counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Maximus forces his way into half guard.
Maximus is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Maximus passes to side control.
Maximus is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Alves knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maximus misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Maximus scores with a couple of short elbows.
Maximus cracks Alves with a big right hand but Alves just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Maximus landing a few strikes.
Maximus wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alves keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alves manages to get back to half guard.
Maximus is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Alves reverses the position - he's now on top in Maximus's guard.
Maximus is trying to keep Alves in close.
Maximus looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Maximus is on top in guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Maximus wants to control from the top but Alves keeps moving.
Maximus stays in close to Alves's body and controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcus Maximus dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Maximus shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Maximus lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Alves is rocked!
Maximus loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Alves scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Maximus land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Maximus stands and salutes the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marcus Maximus!
