PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kim Hendi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Yang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yang has chosen Eye of the Tiger as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Kim Hendi had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kim Hendi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Danny Yang!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hendi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Yang tries to avoid it but Hendi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Yang to the ground. Yang escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hendi needs to keep his hands up - Yang had a free shot at his head there.
Yang slaps away a takedown attempt from Hendi, before circling back to the center of the mat.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Yang checks a leg kick.
Hendi chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Yang can pounce on him.
Hendi lands a slapping body shot.

Hendi clinches up with Yang and pushes him back against the cage.

Yang successfully pulls guard.
Yang pulls Hendi in to control the position.
Hendi throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Yang is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Yang wants to stand and escape but Hendi is having none of it.

Hendi stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Yang moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Yang misses with a head kick.
Yang throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hendi's waist but Hendi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Yang off to one side.
Hendi wants to clinch up but Yang keeps it at a distance.
Hendi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Yang tries to clinch up
and Hendi counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Yang throws a head kick that misses.
Hendi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Yang is fending him off so far but Hendi persists. Nope, Yang circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kim Hendi. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Yang clinches up with Hendi and pushes him back against the cage.

Yang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hendi checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Hendi on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Yang. Yang obviously looking to wear him down.
Yang throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yang tries to land a front kick but Hendi steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Yang lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Hendi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Yang counters with a good low kick that Hendi was not able to check.

Yang drives through with a takedown into Hendi's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Hendi has his hands on Yang's head, controlling the position.
Hendi looking for a sweep. Not yet Hendi, not yet.

Yang decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hendi, up you get!

No luck with that takedown attempt from Hendi.
Yang shoots in looking for a takedown but Hendi manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Yang's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Hendi is looking to clinch but Yang is avoiding it.
Hendi dives in and grabs Yang's left leg, looking for a takedown. Yang pushes down on Hendi's head and hops out.

Yang lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hendi takes a step back to recover.

Yang avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Yang lands a two punch combo.
Yang leaves Hendi with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hendi moves out of range as Yang throws a body kick.
Yang tries to clinch up but Hendi circles away and keeps his distance.
Hendi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hendi enables Yang to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hendi manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Yang wants to control from the top but Hendi keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hendi tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hendi has momentary wrist control but Yang slips an elbow through the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Danny Yang dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Hendi takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Yang lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Yang.

Kim Hendi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Yang shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hendi is trying to defend but Yang finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Hendi has his foot on Yang's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Yang works his way back into a safe position though.

Hendi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Yang lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Yang postures up in Hendi's guard and throws a big left but Hendi blocks it.

Hendi wants to sweep here but Yang controlling him for the moment.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hendi is looking for a triangle here but Yang uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Hendi tries to kick Yang off but Yang keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Yang has hold of Hendi's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hendi manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Yang cracks Hendi with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Yang unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Hendi wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Yang celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Danny Yang!
Danny Yang really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Untouchable Fight Gear logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
