PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between The Assassin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bjj Spar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, The Assassin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bjj Spar!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spar gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Assassin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Spar pulls Assassin in to control the position.
Assassin throws an elbow that misses. Spar uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Assassin's guard. Nice move by Spar!
Spar slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Assassin.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, with Spar on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Assassin is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

You can see the frustration on Assassin's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Spar gets his hands free as Assassin looks to control.

Spar is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

That was a close round but I would say that The Assassin will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Assassin shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Assassin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Spar with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Assassin connects with a nice short shot to Spar's temple.

Assassin thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Assassin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Assassin tries to roll over but Spar keeps him under control.

Spar has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Spar looking to control and managing it successfully.
Assassin is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Assassin is squirming around, avoiding Spar's attempts to control the action.

Assassin is desperately trying to improve his position but Spar has a good base and remains in mount.
Spar can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Assassin is looking to escape.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Assassin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Spar pushing down on Assassin's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Spar is keen to just control but Assassin is a slippery customer.
Assassin is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Spar jumps into side control!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to The Assassin.
Well Assassin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
