Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryszard Olszar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bevan Booysen!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Booysen defending well as Olszar loads up on a big left hand.
Sloppy strikes from Olszar. Those never looked like landing.
Olszar throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Booysen.
Olszar lands with a good body shot.
Olszar fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Booysen manages to avoid it.
Olszar misses with a few strikes there.

Booysen has managed to clinch.

Booysen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Booysen misses with a double jab.

Booysen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Olszar to the mat! Olszar manages to get full guard.
Booysen loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Olszar looking for a guillotine here but Booysen defends easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Olszar looks to land a right hand but Booysen moved out of range.

Booysen rushes Olszar and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Booysen looking to throw knees to the head but Olszar is blocking nicely.

Booysen is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Olszar can't fight it off and eventually Booysen manages to take the fight to the floor. Olszar looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Booysen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Booysen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Olszar is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Booysen is aware though and is defending well.

Booysen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Olszar not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Olszar looking for a sweep. Not yet Olszar, not yet.

Booysen stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Olszar fails to land with a series of punches.

Olszar lunges at Booysen with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Booysen's hand.
Olszar swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Olszar throws a nice looking combination but Booysen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Booysen closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Olszar quickly recovers to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Olszar is in all sorts of trouble here.

Olszar is wriggling around trying to escape.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Booysen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Olszar, who protects the arm well.
Olszar is looking to regain half guard here but Booysen keeps moving and retains side control.

Ryszard Olszar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A looping hook to the body misses from Olszar. Booysen does a little dance to reset his feet.
Booysen moves away from the strike by Olszar.
Booysen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Olszar moves away.
Olszar misses with a series of wild punches.

Olszar missing with a left hand there. Booysen was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Booysen looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Booysen passes to side control.
Olszar is looking for a sweep.

Booysen throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Olszar works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bevan Booysen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Booysen fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Olszar is out of range.
Booysen displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Olszar throws out the jab.
Olszar tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Booysen manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Olszar takes a swing at Booysen's ribcage but misses.

and Booysen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Olszar wants to sweep but no luck.
Booysen stands and throws Olszar's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Olszar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Booysen on the ground.

Booysen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Booysen has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Booysen takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Booysen takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Booysen moves out of range of the strikes.
Olszar lands with a good body shot.
A swing and a miss from Olszar.

Booysen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Booysen lands in his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Olszar is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Booysen cracks Olszar with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Booysen lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Booysen is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Olszar can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Bevan Booysen decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
