Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yukinari Tamura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jin Ryo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jin Ryo told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yukinari Tamura! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jin Ryo! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tamura tries to land a front kick but Ryo steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Tamura shoots in for a takedown but Ryo shows good takedown defense. Tamura shoots in for a takedown but Ryo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Tamura has taken the fight to the clinch.

Ryo tries to pull guard but Tamura holds him up against the cage and eventually Ryo drops back down to his feet.

Tamura manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Ryo wants to stand but Tamura is controlling his posture from full guard. Ryo wants to control from the top but Tamura keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tamura pulls Ryo in close to prevent any damage. Tamura is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ryo wants to control from the top but Tamura keeps moving.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jin Ryo. Ryo tries to clinch there but Tamura circles away.
Ryo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Tamura is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ryo's half guard. Tamura decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ryo misses with the combination.
Tamura has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ryo finds it's way round the side to connect with Tamura's head. Tamura clinches with his opponent.
Ryo wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Tamura has him pressed against the cage. Tamura drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ryo gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yukinari Tamura. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tamura working hard to break the clinch. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ryo gets underhooks to prevent Tamura's takedown attempt.

Tamura keeps control of Ryo as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Tamura lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ryo blocking the ground and pound attempt from Tamura. Tamura perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Ryo trying to control from the bottom.
Tamura decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Ryo looks gassed! Ryo tries to clinch but Tamura is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tamura shoots in for a takedown but Ryo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Tamura misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Tamura gets a takedown into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tamura passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Ryo! The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Tamura pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Yukinari Tamura dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Ryo tries to clinch and Tamura counters with a takedown into side control. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Ryo is not content to let Tamura control the position. Tamura is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Ryo will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Tamura is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ryo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Tamura lands some shots froms side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ryo is trying to control Tamura's posture but Tamura avoids it. Tamura working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Tamura is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ryo has escaped the position, nice work there. Tamura tries to advance to mount but can't. Tamura is staying tight to Ryo's torso, preventing him from escaping.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ryo gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Ryo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tamura. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Tamura working Ryo over with strikes. Ryo tries to roll over but Tamura keeps him under control. Ryo wants to control but Tamura is keeping busy and won't allow it. Tamura is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Tamura wants to work for an arm triangle but Ryo is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Tamura is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Ryo wants to get back to full guard but Tamura has passed into side control. Ryo is breathing heavily. Tamura advances to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tamura postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ryo looks a forlorn figure.

Yukinari Tamura dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Ryo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tamura pinned against the cage. Tamura gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. No luck with that takedown attempt from Tamura. Ryo shoots in but no luck this time. Tamura clinches with his opponent.

Tamura jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ryo walks away with a smile on his face. Tamura gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yukinari Tamura. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ryo shoots in but no luck this time. Tamura tries to clinch but Ryo moves away and Ryo counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Ryo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ryo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tamura avoids it really well and circles away. Ryo misses with a head kick.
Ryo gets tackled into the cage by Tamura. Tamura maintains the clinch. Tamura pulls guard effortlessly. Tamura is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Yukinari Tamura overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Tamura has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tamura wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Yukinari Tamura just wasn't active enough. Ryo tries to keep at a distance but Tamura has taken the fight into the clinch. Tamura gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ryo.
Ryo tries to score a body lock takedown but Tamura shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Tamura misses with a knee to the head. Tamura is pushing Ryo up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tamura lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Ryo is trying to pull guard but Tamura turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Tamura is trying to push Ryo away but Ryo has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Ryo prevents a takedown attempt there.
Ryo is trying to maintain a safe position but Tamura gets an underhook and turns Ryo into the cage. Ryo tries to pull guard but Tamura holds him up against the cage and eventually Ryo drops back down to his feet.
Tamura has Ryo pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ryo manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tamura managing to block the knees to the body from Ryo.
Tamura wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Tamura changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ryo fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Tamura tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Ryo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Tamura moves into range and clinches up with Ryo. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ryo wants to take the fight to the mat but Tamura manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Jin Ryo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Yukinari Tamura is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Ryo with an attempt at a knee that misses.
And that's the end of the fight! Yukinari Tamura showed his dominance in that final round. Well Tamura has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
