PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lonje Moco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Pound (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pound is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by When I'm Gone - Eminem. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lonje Moco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jay Pound!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Ivan Kurochkin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pound gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Pound fails to land the takedown.
Moco with a lazy takedown attempt

and Pound counters with a shoot takedown. Moco fights it but they end up in guard.
Pound trying to control the position from guard on top but Moco is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Moco will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Pound working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Moco seems keen to control Pound's posture.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pound wants to control from the top but Moco keeps moving.

Pound postures up in Moco's guard and throws a big left but Moco blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pound loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Pound feints and as Moco raises his hands in defense, Pound changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pound with a flurry of punches that miss.
Pound throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Moco utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Pound working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Pound keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Moco's head.
Pound is looking to work some ground and pound but Moco has wrist control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Moco is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Pound slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Pound in side control lands a decent elbow.
Pound misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Moco parries the strikes from Pound easily there. Pound is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Moco to escape.
Pound cracks Moco with a big right hand but Moco just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Moco on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Moco tries to get out of the position.

Pound tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pound has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pound misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Pound with the ground and pound but Moco regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pound works his way into full mount!

Pound misses with a takedown attempt - Moco sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
The fight stays on the outside here - Moco looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jay Pound seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Moco closes the distance and clinches.
Pound gets underhooks to prevent Moco's takedown attempt.
Moco is looking to take this one to the mat.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Moco takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Pound goes for a takedown attempt but Moco pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Lonje Moco has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Pound.
Pound shoots in looking for a takedown. Moco tries to sprawl out of it but Pound keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Moco manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pound is defended easily by Moco.
Pound shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Moco but Moco pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Moco darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Moco is thwarting Pound's attempts to control the position.
Pound has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Pound is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Moco's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Moco's back!

Even with his hooks in, Pound manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Pound lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Moco.

Jay Pound showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Pound gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Moco.
Moco drops down looking for an ankle pick but Pound pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lonje Moco. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Moco throws a jab when Pound was well out of range.

Moco moves into range and clinches up with Pound.
Moco changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pound fights it off and pushes away nicely.

It looks like Lonje Moco has been cut.
Pound takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Pound shoots in for a double leg but Moco sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Moco tries to close the distance and clinch but Pound swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pound looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A punch combination from Pound misses.
Moco moves away from the strike by Pound.

Pound shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Pound was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Pound tries to control but Moco wriggling away.
Pound postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Moco looks a forlorn figure.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pound misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Pound is landing with some decent strikes but Moco is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Moco holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Pound tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Pound unloads with some shots from mount but Moco bucks and avoids them well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jay Pound comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Pound winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
