Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pencil Neck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Neck is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Rolling Stones - Paint it black. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Hunt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pencil Neck!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunt fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Neck tries a head kick but it misses.
Hunt fails with a takedown attempt.

Neck drives through with a takedown into guard.

Hunt is looking for a triangle but Neck pushes his legs off easily.
Neck is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Neck slips nicely into half guard.

Neck is looking for a kimura but Hunt is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Neck to get the leverage.
Neck is pressing down on Hunt's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hunt is holding on for now.
Neck is controlling the pace.
Hunt tries to get to full guard but Neck has control of the leg.

Neck is looking to advance position but Hunt won't allow it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Hunt looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Neck!
Neck sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Hunt wants to free his trapped foot but Neck is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Neck wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neck preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Neck has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hunt is working away from the top position though.
Neck tries to get to full guard but Hunt has control of the leg.
Hunt is pressing down on Neck's thigh, looking to free his foot. Neck is holding on for now.
Neck really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hunt. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neck is trying to control but can't.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hunt gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Neck counters with a takedown into side control.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Hunt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hunt manages to work his way to half guard, despite Neck's best efforts.

Neck is trying to work for a kimura but Hunt is defending well.

Hunt is looking for a triangle here but Neck uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Neck sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Hunt is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Hunt is looking to regain half guard here but Neck keeps moving and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pencil Neck dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Neck is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Hunt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Neck gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Neck wants to control from the top but Hunt keeps moving.

Hunt controls Neck momentarily but Neck frees himself.
Neck not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Neck wants to pass the guard but Hunt is keeping the position.

Hunt wants to hit a switch here but Neck passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Hunt there!
Pencil Neck has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hunt slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Neck is breathing heavily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hunt wants to get back to full guard.
Neck is keen to just control but Hunt is a slippery customer.
Neck stalling away here and it's allowed Hunt to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Neck tries to free his leg and advance position but Hunt is retaining full guard.

Still in half guard, Neck seems content to control.
Hunt is in trouble now - Neck has advanced to mount!

Neck tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

It looks like Mike Hunt has been cut.

Neck stands up from mount. Strange move.

Neck closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hunt is looking to improve his position.
Neck tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hunt knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Hunt gets full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pencil Neck showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Hunt tries for a takedown but Neck circles away easily

and Neck counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Neck has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Hunt clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Neck looking to break Hunt's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Hunt remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Neck will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Neck is not going to allow Hunt to sit and survive in this position.

Neck is trying to stick to Hunt's back but Hunt is turning into Neck. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Neck's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Hunt.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Neck has Hunt up against the cage in a clinch.
Neck unloads a knee to the mid-section. Hunt lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Neck drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Neck tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hunt smiles and moves away.

Hunt takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Neck shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hunt as he avoids it easily.
Mike Hunt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pencil Neck.

and Neck decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hunt's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hunt keeping moving, preventing Neck from controlling successfully.
Neck looking to sit in guard and control but Hunt gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Neck is looking for a triangle but Hunt pushes his legs off easily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Neck changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hunt looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hunt is looking for a sweep.
Neck landing a few strikes.
Hunt tries to improve position but can't.

Neck decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Hunt feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hunt has gone for a leg lock! Neck slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hunt's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hunt had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Neck is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Hunt Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Neck's back instead.

And that's the end of the fight!
Pencil Neck comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Neck has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
