The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bad closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bad lands in his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bad trying to control the position from guard on top but Tuominen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Tuominen had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bad is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Tuominen Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bad's back instead.
Bad tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Bad is desperately trying to improve his position but Tuominen has a good base and remains in mount.
Bad really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tuominen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bad tries to hold on but Tuominen postures up.
Tuominen wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bad can do anything to dispel that myth.
Bad wants to control but Tuominen is having none of it.

Bad keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Tuominen goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Bad turns into him and now he's in Tuominen's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Tuominen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Bad wants to pass the guard but Tuominen is keeping the position.
Bad wants to control from the top but Tuominen keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bad won't allow Tuominen to sweep him here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
