The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab lands there for Shcholkin.
Shcholkin ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Nifontov blocks a low kick nicely.
Shcholkin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shcholkin misses with a body shot.
Shcholkin lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Shcholkin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Shcholkin catches Nifontov with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
A slapping leg kick lands for Shcholkin.
Nifontov shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Shcholkin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Nifontov thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Nifontov stops Shcholkin from standing up.
Nifontov is sitting in close to Shcholkin's body. Shcholkin has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Nifontov is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Nifontov is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Shcholkin.
