PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Cobsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyler Vaughn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Vaughn's choice of entrance music: Freak on a leash. The key to victory for Joe Cobsen has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Cobsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Tyler Vaughn!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cobsen fails in his attempt to clinch.
A head kick misses from Cobsen.
Good leg kick by Vaughn there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Tyler Vaughn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vaughn gets the takedown into side control.
Cobsen is not content to let Vaughn control the position.
Cobsen wants to get back to his feet.
Vaughn in side control, throwing shots but Cobsen defends.
Cobsen on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Vaughn thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Vaughn wants to control but Cobsen is keeping him busy.
Cobsen is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Vaughn is controlling him well.
Cobsen tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cobsen is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A control attempt from Cobsen but he's now mounted!

Vaughn throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Vaughn takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cobsen turns into Vaughn and is now in his guard.
Vaughn not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Cobsen wants to stand but Vaughn is controlling his posture from full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Cobsen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Cobsen gets a takedown into half guard.
Vaughn missing with punches from the bottom.
Vaughn tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Cobsen has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Vaughn wants to hold on but Cobsen pushes him away.
Vaughn is looking to improve his position but Cobsen isn't that keen on the idea.
Cobsen wants to get back to his feet but Vaughn is holding on tight.

Cobsen stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cobsen wants to clinch.

Vaughn moves into range and clinches up with Cobsen.
Cobsen manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Cobsen can't find room to land a body shot as Vaughn controls the action.
Cobsen is trying to maintain a safe position but Vaughn gets an underhook and turns Cobsen into the cage.
Cobsen lands a knee to the head.
Nice elbow from Cobsen.
Cobsen tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Cobsen tries to stall but Vaughn uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Joe Cobsen.
Vaughn doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Cobsen counters with a low kick, right behind Vaughn 's knee.
Vaughn is breathing heavily.
Vaughn misses with a takedown attempt - Cobsen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Cobsen tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Vaughn counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Vaughn tries to keep at a distance but Cobsen has taken the fight into the clinch.

Cobsen tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Cobsen tries to stall but Vaughn uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Vaughn goes for a takedown in the clinch but Cobsen prevents it.
Joe Cobsen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyler Vaughn.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Cobsen tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Cobsen lands an elbow that stopped Vaughn in his tracks for a moment.

Cobsen has Vaughn pushed against the cage.
Cobsen softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Cobsen is looking to control Vaughn's arms but Vaughn gets an underhook and turns him. Now Cobsen has his back to the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Vaughn drives through with a takedown into guard.
Vaughn won't allow Cobsen to get back to his feet.
Vaughn throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Vaughn trying to control but Cobsen is working from the bottom.
Vaughn takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Vaughn throwing strikes but missing.

Cobsen managing to control the position.
Cobsen keeping moving, preventing Vaughn from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cobsen tries to clinch up

and Vaughn decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cobsen's guard.
Vaughn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cobsen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cobsen wants to stand and escape but Vaughn is having none of it.
Vaughn trying to control the position from guard on top but Cobsen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Vaughn drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cobsen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cobsen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cobsen!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Cobsen decides to stand back up.
Cobsen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Vaughn circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cobsen throws a head kick but Vaughn moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Cobsen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vaughn paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Vaughn counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cobsen won't be happy with that.

Cobsen manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Cobsen regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Vaughn.
Cobsen keeping full guard, as Vaughn tries to pass.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tyler Vaughn comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Vaughn has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
