Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Pain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gennady Vieira!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vieira pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Pain back to the cage. Vieira follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like Mark Pain has been cut.
Vieira swats away the attempt to clinch by Pain.
A nice inside leg kick there by Vieira. That's going to slow Pain down.
Vieira fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Vieira moves into the clinch successfully.
Vieira wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Pain has him pressed against the cage.
Vieira with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Pain wants to take the fight to the mat but Vieira manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Pain has picked Vieira up - he's going for a ride! Pain dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Vieira moves into full guard.
Pain looking to pass the guard.
Pain stands up over Vieira, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Vieira looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Pain with a nice head shot there.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pain accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vieira is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Pain looks like he's trying to stand up.
Vieira wants to control but Pain is keeping him busy.
Pain has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Vieira stops Pain from getting back to his feet.
Vieira tries to pass the half guard into mount. Pain knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pain is trying to stand up here but Vieira is controlling him well.

Pain makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vieira misses with a head kick.
Vieira misses with a combination

and Pain counters with a nice double leg into side control. Vieira won't be happy with that.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pain working away.
Pain lands some shots froms side control.
Vieira is trying to get back to half guard.
Vieira gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vieira is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Pain in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Vieira is bucking up trying to escape but Pain cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Vieira is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Pain postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Vieira looks a forlorn figure.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pain lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Vieira hang on?
Pain lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Pain fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Pain controlling his opponent.

Pain looking to secure an arm triangle but Vieira defends it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Pain swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Vieira is now in Pain's guard. A big mistake from Pain there, giving up the dominant position!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Pain scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Vieira tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Vieira attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Vieira fails in his attempt to clinch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Pain shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Pain trying to control but Vieira is working from the bottom.
Vieira is trying to control the position but Pain postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Pain dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Mark Pain's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Pain closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Vieira's guard.


Vieira is rocked!
Pain passes Vieira's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Vieira is still in real trouble! Can Pain finish him?
Pain scores with a big shot! Vieira's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Vieira! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Pain!
An out of breath Mark Pain thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
