Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Iwan Matwijenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bruno Oppenheim!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oppenheim tries a head kick but it misses.
Oppenheim scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Matwijenko scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Oppenheim cracks Matwijenko with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Matwijenko dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Oppenheim. That did some damage!
Matwijenko pushes Oppenheim up against the ropes in a clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Oppenheim tries a body shot but Matwijenko blocks it.
Matwijenko breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Oppenheim misses with a head kick.
Matwijenko has closed the distance and engaged Oppenheim in a clinch.
Matwijenko is trying to push Oppenheim away but Oppenheim has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.
Matwijenko has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Matwijenko pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Iwan Matwijenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Matwijenko throws a half hearted mid kick.
Matwijenko tries to close the distance and clinch but Oppenheim swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A jab-cross combination lands for Matwijenko and sends Oppenheim crashing to the mat! Matwijenko follows him down to the mat - Oppenheim regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
Oppenheim is rocked!
It looks like Bruno Oppenheim has been cut.
Matwijenko decides to return to a standing position.
Oppenheim is still on wobbly legs! Can Matwijenko finish him?
Matwijenko wobbles Oppenheim with a right hand and the left hook that follows puts him on his rear! Matwijenko dives in with a huge flying punch that connects right on the button and puts Oppenheim to sleep! - What a violent and spectacular finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Iwan Matwijenko!
