Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Axel Stevens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Arcel Dacir! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shirou Masuda and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stevens has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Dacir misses with a left hand and Stevens connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Dacir's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Dacir duly obliges. Dacir keeps the fight on the outside. A left and a right from Dacir both land. Nice combination. Arcel Dacir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Stevens throws a head kick but Dacir moves out of range.
Stevens tries to keep at a distance but Dacir has taken the fight into the clinch. A short right from Dacir on the inside. Dacir blocking some punches.
Stevens pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Stevens with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Stevens tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Stevens using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Dacir has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Dacir lands a body punch in the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stevens stalls. Dacir drags the fight down to the ground.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Stevens wants to pass the guard but Dacir is keeping the position. Dacir has momentary wrist control but Stevens slips an elbow through the middle. Dacir preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Stevens advances position into side control! Dacir struggling a bit here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stevens is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dacir is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Dacir sneaks back into half guard. Stevens passes to full mount! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Stevens thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Stevens connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Stevens lands a heavy elbow. Stevens has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Dacir's face.
Stevens trying to control but Dacir is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stevens lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Stevens is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Dacir to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Dacir shrugs it off. Dacir taking shots to the head. Dacir is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Stevens lands with some strikes. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Stevens looking to finish Dacir with some ground and pound. This is bad for Dacir! Stevens throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Stevens working for a guillotine from mount but Dacir is in no mood to give up. Stevens looking to finish with strikes here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dacir is squirming around, avoiding Stevens's attempts to control the action. Stevens lands a heavy elbow. Dacir regains half guard. Stevens passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Dacir! Stevens working the ground and pound effectively.
Stevens connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Dacir tries to lock up and control but Stevens gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Stevens dominating with strikes here. Stevens postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Dacir looks a forlorn figure.

Dacir is rocked! Stevens lands a big elbow - Dacir is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Dacir is forced to tap out!
