PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mihail Pereverzev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cameron Vegas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vegas has chosen Party Rock Anthem- LMFAO as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cameron Vegas!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Vladimir Khabensky and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pereverzev fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Vegas moves into the clinch.
Vegas lands a good knee to the midsection. Pereverzev won't want to take too many of those.
A body shot lands from Vegas.
Pereverzev is looking to take this one to the mat.

Vegas breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Vegas shoots for a takedown but Pereverzev saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Vegas counters with a single leg into guard. Pereverzev didn't expect that.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Cameron Vegas wasn't active enough on the ground.

and Vegas counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pereverzev's guard now.
Pereverzev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vegas on the ground.

Vegas is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Pereverzev pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Vegas is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Pereverzev can't fight it off and eventually Vegas manages to take the fight to the floor. Pereverzev looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Pereverzev on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Pereverzev tries to get out of the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Vegas wants to pass the guard but Pereverzev is keeping the position.
Pereverzev will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Cameron Vegas hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Pereverzev changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Vegas looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Vegas has eaten all the pies!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vegas sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Vegas on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Pereverzev is looking to pass Vegas's guard but actually Vegas recovers to full guard.
Pereverzev connects with a couple of short punches.
Pereverzev in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Pereverzev postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Vegas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pereverzev's guard.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Pereverzev pulls Vegas in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Vegas decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pereverzev's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vegas wants to control from the top but Pereverzev keeps moving.

Vegas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Pereverzev is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Vegas has a closed guard, preventing Pereverzev from standing up.

Vegas is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pereverzev defends well.

The referee warns Pereverzev that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Pereverzev throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vegas's waist but Vegas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pereverzev off to one side.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vegas has control of Pereverzev's left arm, preventing Pereverzev from doing any damage.
Vegas wants to get back to his feet but Pereverzev is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Pereverzev scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Vegas lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pereverzev!

Vegas tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Vegas misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Cameron Vegas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Vegas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A determined Cameron Vegas didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
