Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ted Scheckler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benjamin Grundy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Benjamin Grundy told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ted Scheckler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Benjamin Grundy! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Kavanagh and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scheckler swats away the attempt to clinch by Grundy. Scheckler takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Nice straight punches there by Scheckler. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Scheckler. Nice defenses there by Scheckler. Scheckler moves out of range of the leg kick from Grundy. Scheckler connects with an inside leg kick. Grundy avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Nice shot by Scheckler. Scheckler on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Scheckler swings widly with a right hand
and Grundy connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Scheckler thows a left - swing and a miss!
That's one minute gone in the round. Grundy tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Scheckler misses with a head kick.
Grundy throws a nice inside leg kick. Grundy staying out of range there. Grundy with a nice cross. Scheckler throws a poor cross that misses
and Grundy counters with a lovely straight right hand! Scheckler misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. A telegraphed right hand from Scheckler misses the target.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grundy jabs Scheckler to the body, keeping him at a distance. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Grundy connects with a good right hand that stumbles Scheckler. Scheckler circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Grundy jabbing away but nothing is landing. Grundy swings away with a leg kick that misses. Grundy chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Benjamin Grundy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Scheckler throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Grundy sees it coming and avoids it easily. Grundy changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. An inside leg kick lands from Grundy. Scheckler misses with a wild combination.
Grundy digs a good hook to Scheckler's body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Scheckler on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Grundy lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Scheckler has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Scheckler and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Decent striking displayed by Grundy there. Benjamin Grundy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Scheckler pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Grundy throws a leg kick and Scheckler counters with an inside leg kick. Scheckler's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Grundy connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Scheckler scrambles back to his feet. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Scheckler throws a head kick that misses. Grundy has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grundy cracks the inside of Scheckler's front leg. Grundy throws a leg kick and Scheckler counters with a takedown into side control. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Grundy managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Scheckler.
Scheckler working away. Scheckler tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Scheckler has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Grundy wants to control but Scheckler postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Benjamin Grundy dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Grundy on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Scheckler looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Scheckler pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Grundy is keeping the position for now. Scheckler preventing the sweep. Grundy avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Scheckler working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Grundy's head. Grundy keeping full guard, as Scheckler tries to pass. Grundy pulls Scheckler in close to his closed guard and prevents Scheckler from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scheckler throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Grundy works some decent striking defense from the bottom. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Scheckler accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Scheckler is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Scheckler throws a strike but Grundy rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Grundy is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scheckler looking for a guillotine here but Grundy defends easily.
Scheckler looking for a sweep. Not yet Scheckler, not yet. Grundy trying to control but Scheckler is working from the bottom. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Scheckler holds on and takes a little breather.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Scheckler working a defensive guard here.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Grundy throws out a powerful jab. Grundy swinging wildly here.
Scheckler checks the leg kick. Grundy lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Benjamin Grundy seems to be getting the better of the standup.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grundy throws a leg kick letting Scheckler counter with a right hand. Grundy moves out of range of the strikes. Scheckler tries to clinch up but Grundy circles away and keeps his distance. Grundy fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. A clash of legs there as Scheckler blocks the low kick. Grundy scores with a one two! Scheckler had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Grundy wants to land a leg kick but Scheckler is out of range. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Grundy jabs Scheckler right on the nose. Scheckler blinks but takes it well. Scheckler moves out of range as Grundy strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Benjamin Grundy will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Grundy throws a body kick that misses. Scheckler throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Grundy's waist but Grundy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Scheckler off to one side. Grundy cracks Scheckler with a good jab. Jab, jab by Grundy - just one landing. Scheckler looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Scheckler works his foot free and advances to mount. Scheckler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Grundy is looking to improve his position but Scheckler isn't that keen on the idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grundy squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Scheckler wants to control the pace but Grundy is squirming around nicely. Grundy stops Scheckler from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Scheckler lands with some strikes. Scheckler looking to ground and pound but Grundy is blocking nicely. Scheckler scoring with strikes but Grundy is staying in there. Scheckler landing punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scheckler lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Grundy hang on? Scheckler trying to control but Grundy is having none of it. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Scheckler unloading with bombs! Scheckler looking to ground and pound but Grundy is blocking nicely. Scheckler throws some wild stikes that Grundy manages to avoid easily.
Scheckler moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Grundy has worked his arm free - good work by Grundy!
Grundy is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grundy is trying to maintain the position but Scheckler is very close to passing his half guard. Scheckler trying to pass the guard but Grundy defending well. Scheckler throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Benjamin Grundy is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Scheckler missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Grundy moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Grundy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Scheckler is one step ahead there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Scheckler working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Ted Scheckler has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Grundy can't keep his opponent in guard - Scheckler advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Scheckler sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Grundy defending well though. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Scheckler wants to free his trapped foot but Grundy is holding on for dear life with his legs. Grundy is looking for a sweep. Scheckler is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that's the end of the fight! Ted Scheckler showed his dominance in that final round. I think Grundy has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
