Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Oswaldo Barra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Verdmont Bronson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bronson has chosen So long and thanks for all the fish as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Verdmont Bronson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Oswaldo Barra! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Verdmont Bronson! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bronson misses with an uppercut. Barra saw that one coming. Barra misses with a double jab
and Bronson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Bronson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Barra. Barra keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Bronson. Bronson scores with a jab to the head.
It looks like Oswaldo Barra has been cut. Barra fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bronson avoids it really well and circles away. Barra is looking to clinch but Bronson is avoiding it.
Barra uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bronson. Barra closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Barra closes the distance looking to clinch and Bronson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barra closes the distance looking to clinch and Bronson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Bronson lands a hook to the side of the head. Bronson effectively controlling the action here. Barra has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bronson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Bronson breaks from the clinch.
Barra has closed the distance and engaged Bronson in a clinch.
Barra tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Oswaldo Barra. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bronson lands with a right to the head. Barra tries to break the clinch but Bronson is controlling the position. Bronson stalling in the clinch.
Bronson is working Barra over against the cage. Bronson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Bronson swats away the attempt to clinch by Barra. Bronson scores with a jab to the head.
Barra tries to bum rush Bronson with a series of wild strikes but Bronson uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Bronson connects with a nice looking jab.
This has been an exciting period of action! Barra throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Barra fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Bronson is out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barra takes a jab right on the kisser.
Oswaldo Barra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bronson lands a nice hook to Barra's body. Barra takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Barra throws a head kick that misses. Barra tries for a takedown but Bronson circles away easily enabling Bronson to counter with a crisp jab. A telegraphed right hand from Bronson misses the target. Barra gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Bronson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Barra uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bronson. Bronson slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Bronson scores with a nice right hand.
Barra is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Barra swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Oh Barra is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bronson jabs Barra to the body, keeping him at a distance. Bronson is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Barra had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Barra closes the distance but Bronson moves to the side and Bronson counters with a left and a right... And another left! Barra is down! He's done! The ref dives in to save him and that's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Verdmont Bronson! Verdmont Bronson is the new lightweight champion! A very excited looking Verdmont Bronson made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
