Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joe Frazier! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, William Shimazu! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shimazu connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Frazier misses with a looping right. Shimazu tries to clinch up. Shimazu lands a lovely overhand right. Shimazu looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Frazier shoots in looking for a takedown. Shimazu tries to sprawl out of it but Frazier keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shimazu manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Frazier connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Shimazu's hands. A kick lands to the mid section there for Shimazu. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Shimazu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Shimazu throws a head kick that misses. Frazier throws an overhand right that lands on Shimazu's shoulder, as Shimazu tries to avoid the shot. Shimazu lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Shimazu pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Shimazu uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Frazier. Frazier throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Frazier circles away from the clinch attempt.

Frazier throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

William Shimazu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Shimazu gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Shimazu stalling.
Shimazu goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Frazier is trying to pull guard but Shimazu has him pressed against the cage. Shimazu tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Frazier's elbow. A head punch blocked on the inside by Shimazu. Frazier gets control of Shimazu's arms and successfully pulls guard. Frazier will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Frazier is on top in guard.
Shimazu is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Frazier has his hands clasped together but Shimazu extends an breaks Frazier's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Shimazu.
