Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Briggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Forrest Gump (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Gump's choice of entrance music: mama always said. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Hugh Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gump staying out of range there.
Gump misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Briggs.
Briggs swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gump connects with a solid leg kick.
A slow jab from Briggs misses its intended target.
Briggs fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Briggs stuffs the takedown attempt from Gump. Gump gets slowly back to his feet.
Gump lands with a kick to the temple. Briggs shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

and Gump counters with a stiff right hand.
Gump tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Briggs paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Briggs throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gump swings for the body but Briggs moves out of range.

Gump has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Briggs is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Gump lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Briggs. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Gump dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Briggs. That did some damage!
Briggs takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Gump lands a left and a right that send Briggs crashing to the mat, dazed. Gump thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Briggs is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Briggs tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Briggs keeps the fight on the outside.
Gump shoots in looking for a takedown. Briggs tries to sprawl out of it but Gump keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Briggs manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gump lands a slapping body shot.
A chopping leg kick lands by Gump.
Briggs jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Gump is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Briggs throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gump is trying hard to land a takedown here. Briggs sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Briggs is looking to wear down Gump with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gump scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Briggs doesn't seem bothered though.

Gump fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Briggs, pushing him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Gump decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Gump shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Briggs sprawls well. Briggs wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gump gets slowly back to his feet.

Gump stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gump wants it to stay on the feet.
Briggs tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Gump has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Gump is still in real trouble! Can Briggs finish him?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Briggs loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Gump scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Briggs land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Briggs stands and salutes the crowd.
