Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Arshad Singh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Rubio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Singh comes into the arena with Check it out blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arshad Singh! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Adam Rubio! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A looping hook to the body misses from Singh. Rubio does a little dance to reset his feet. Singh clobbers Rubio with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Rubio doesn't manage to clinch there - Singh circles away.
Rubio tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Singh paws at him with a jab and circles away. Rubio turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Rubio decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Rubio is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Singh defends it well. Singh manages to get to full guard.

This has been an exciting period of action! Rubio is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Singh sees it coming and defends easily. Singh looking for submissions off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rubio is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Singh is just riding it out for now. Rubio eventually gives up the hold. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Singh gets back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Rubio preventing the sweep. Singh escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rubio gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Rubio is posturing up here but Singh has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Rubio tries to roll out but it's too tight and Rubio has to tap! Slick submission there by Singh!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Arshad Singh! Arshad Singh retains his lightweight title! After winning the bout, Arshad Singh thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
