12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Hinuri! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yoshihiro Takaya! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Takaya walks into a straight right hand from Hinuri. Sloppy strikes from Takaya. Those never looked like landing. Hinuri with a body punch. A glancing blow. Hinuri lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Takaya moves out of range as Hinuri strikes. Takaya uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hinuri.

Takaya drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Takaya taking a breather here. Takaya working the ground and pound.

He's almost out here... but no, Takaya gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Takaya is looking to take a break and control but Hinuri is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Takaya controlling the position. Jack Hinuri seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hinuri looks for the body kick but Takaya saw that one coming. Hinuri throws a front kick aimed at Takaya's knee but Takaya avoids it well. Hinuri tries to bum rush Takaya with a series of wild strikes but Takaya uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Hinuri misses with the combination.

That snapped Takaya's head back.

Hinuri feints and then cracks Takaya's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Takaya down. Takaya shoots in and drives through. Hinuri sprawls well. Jack Hinuri is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hinuri throws a combination that misses and Takaya counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Hinuri fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Takaya checks it well. Hinuri looks to throw the jab but Takaya is out of range. Takaya takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Hinuri throws a series of punches but Takaya moves out of range. Hinuri connects with an inside leg kick. Takaya gets in close and instigates a clinch. Hinuri content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Takaya tries to clinch but Hinuri moves out of range. Hinuri throws a body punch but Takaya moves out of range. Hinuri throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Takaya sees it coming and avoids it easily. Hinuri lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Takaya circles away quickly and effectively. Takaya shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hinuri defends it nicely. This has been an exciting period of action! Takaya keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hinuri wants it to stay on the feet. Jack Hinuri has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. Hinuri lands a head kick. Takaya smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

and Takaya counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hinuri! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hinuri is looking to get to half guard. Hinuri is squirming around, avoiding Takaya's attempts to control the action. Takaya lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Hinuri ducks under a wild hook from Takaya. Hinuri scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Hinuri displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Takaya. Hinuri on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Hinuri slips a straight right by Takaya. Takaya throws a hook but Hinuri blocks it. Takaya avoids a punch combination nicely.
