Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bronek Simson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ringo Dingo! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Ren Mimura and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dingo misses with a head kick.
Simson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Simson won't allow Dingo to sweep him here. Simson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Dingo misses with a takedown attempt and Simson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Dingo! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Simson moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Dingo has worked his arm free - good work by Dingo!
Dingo can't do much from the bottom here. Dingo is looking to reverse the position. Simson fails to land a wild elbow strike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dingo regains half guard there - taking advantage of Simson's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Dingo is refusing to be controlled, as Simson sits in half guard. Dingo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dingo is looking to control Simson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dingo avoid being mounted? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Simson wants to pass the guard but Dingo is defending well. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Dingo looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Simson pushes Dingo off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Simson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dingo avoids it really well and circles away. Dingo misses with the combination.
Dingo throws a head kick but Simson moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dingo is looking to slow Simson down with leg kicks. Dingo throws a solid leg kick but Simson takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Dingo. Simson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Simson is controlling the pace.
Simson slips a nice elbow through Dingo's hands, connecting with Dingo's forehead. Dingo tries to roll over but Simson keeps him under control. Simson is figuring out what he wants to do next.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dingo is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Simson jumps into side control! Simson stands up and we're back to a striking position. Dingo is looking to clinch. Dingo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Simson circles away. Dingo looks gassed! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dingo shoots in looking for a takedown but Simson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dingo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Bronek Simson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ringo Dingo. A nice inside leg kick there by Simson. That's going to slow Dingo down. Simson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Simson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Simson is defended easily by Dingo. Simson shoots in looking for a takedown but Dingo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Simson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bronek Simson dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Simson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dingo sprawls well initially but Simson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Simson passes to full mount! Dingo is looking to get to half guard. Dingo wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Bronek Simson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Simson looking to finish Dingo with some ground and pound. This is bad for Dingo! Simson tries to control but Dingo wriggling away. Simson manages to capitalize on a mistake by Dingo to take his back! Simson is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dingo controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Dingo is breathing heavily. Simson has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Dingo's body.
Simson has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Dingo is in real trouble here. Simson gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Dingo is tapping out! Simson wins by rear naked choke!
