PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raoul Duke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitch Rapp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duke comes to the cage accompanied by Bat Country - Avenge Sevenfold. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Raoul Duke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mitch Rapp!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Duke has managed to clinch.
Duke scores with an uppercut up the middle.


It looks like Mitch Rapp has been cut.

Rapp gets control of Duke's arms and successfully pulls guard. Rapp will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Duke stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rapp swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rapp pulls Duke in close to prevent any damage.
Rapp is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Duke wants to control from the top but Rapp keeps moving.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Rapp closes the distance and clinches.
Duke throws a knee to the head but misses.
Duke lands on the inside with an uppercut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Duke lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Rapp is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Duke doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Rapp breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rapp fails to land the takedown.

Raoul Duke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mitch Rapp.
Duke misses with the combination.
Rapp avoids the body shot from Duke.
Rapp cracks Duke with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Duke waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Rapp.
Duke lands a glancing blow to the side of Rapp's head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Duke slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Duke slaps away a takedown attempt from Rapp, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Raoul Duke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Duke misses with a body shot

and Rapp counters with a shoot takedown. Duke fights it but they end up in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Duke bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rapp's guard.
Duke is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rapp trying to keep a closed guard but Duke is proving a slippery customer.

Rapp pushes Duke off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Duke misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rapp fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rapp shoots for a takedown but Duke saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rapp moves out of range of the strikes.

Duke thows a body shot but no joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rapp has closed the distance and engaged Duke in a clinch.
Rapp prevents a body shot from Duke.

Rapp manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Rapp throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Rapp wants to sweep here but Duke controlling him for the moment.
Rapp is adopting a defensive guard.
Duke tries to stand but Rapp is controlling from the bottom.
Duke prevents Rapp from getting back to his feet.
Rapp trying to control the position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Duke sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Rapp's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rapp gets back to full guard.
Duke postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rapp looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Rapp will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Duke postures up in Rapp's guard and throws a big left but Rapp blocks it.
Duke is working Rapp over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Duke trying to control the position from guard on top but Rapp is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Rapp working for a triangle but Duke defends it easily.

Duke stands up and waves to Rapp to follow him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raoul Duke dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Mitch Rapp's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rapp looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Duke is fending him off so far but Rapp persists. Nope, Duke circles away and we're back to standing.
Duke rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Rapp counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rapp.
Duke pushes off an throws an elbow but Rapp leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Rapp breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nice defenses there by Rapp.
Duke throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Rapp sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Duke works the jab nicely.
Duke throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Duke drops Rapp with a beautiful combination! Rapp stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Duke is looking for the KO!


Rapp is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Duke defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rapp.
Rapp is still on wobbly legs! Can Duke finish him?
Duke lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Raoul Duke!
A very excited looking Raoul Duke made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
