And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Karl Pluckerman!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Richard Clark and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pluckerman takes a kick to the side of the head.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Shortland drops down looking for an ankle pick but Pluckerman pulls his leg out and moves away.

Shortland shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Shortland showed some decent athleticism there.

Pluckerman looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Pluckerman trying to control but Shortland postures up.
Pluckerman is looking to improve his position.

Pluckerman is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Shortland pulls his head out easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shortland looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Pluckerman is defending against the submission attempts here by Shortland.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Pluckerman throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shortland works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Pluckerman slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Shortland is breathing heavily.

Pluckerman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pluckerman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Shortland has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Pluckerman regains guard immediately.
Shortland not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Shortland passes Pluckerman's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Shortland is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pluckerman defends it well.
Pluckerman wants to get back to full guard but Shortland has passed into side control.

Pluckerman is looking to improve his position but Shortland isn't that keen on the idea.

Pluckerman is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Shortland gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

and Pluckerman counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Pluckerman wants to pass to mount but Shortland is defending the position.
Shortland manages to get to full guard.

Pluckerman drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Shortland dives on top into guard.

Pluckerman looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Pluckerman is trying to control the position but Shortland postures up.

Shortland avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Pluckerman lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Shortland!

Pluckerman looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Karl Pluckerman will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Shortland's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Pluckerman closes the distance and clinches up with Shortland, looking for a takedown. Pluckerman pushes Shortland against the cage but Shortland circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Shortland counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pluckerman's guard now.

Shortland is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Pluckerman has a closed guard, preventing Shortland from standing up.
Shortland pushes down on Pluckerman's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Shortland is working for a kimura but Pluckerman is defending it quite comfortably.
Shortland wants to control but Pluckerman is keeping him busy.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Shortland is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Shortland stands up from half guard.

Shortland closes the distance and clinches.
Shortland stalling.
Pluckerman drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Glen Shortland has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Karl Pluckerman.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shortland is on top in guard.

Shortland drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Shortland as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Pluckerman screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Shortland! Nice submission victory there!
