Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Rai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Austin Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith has chosen I´m Shipping Up To Boston - Dropkick Murphys as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aaron Rai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

16 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Austin Smith!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rai is defended easily by Smith.
Rai pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Rai throws a poor cross that misses
and Smith counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rai shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Smith's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rai trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom.
Rai wants to pass the guard but Smith is keeping the position.
Smith looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Smith is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Austin Smith was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Rai shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Rai keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Sloppy strikes from Smith. Those never looked like landing.
Smith connects with a jab.
Smith lands a jab to the nose.
Smith misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rai.
Rai uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Smith.
Rai scores with a jab. Smith acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
It looks like Austin Smith has been cut.
Smith throws a jab but it's blocked by Rai.
Smith lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Smith fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Rai checks it well.
Smith throws out a loose jab but Rai uses good head movement to avoid it.
Rai shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aaron Rai. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Smith throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Rai.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rai throws a right hand that Smith ducks under and follows up with a left that Smith also avoids with ease.
Rai shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rai lands a jab.
Rai misses with an uppercut.
Smith stuffs the takedown.
Austin Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Smith keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Rai shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Smith looks to score with a jab to the body but Rai is just out of range.
Rai closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Rai pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rai slips a jab from Smith.
Smith dips to his left and cracks Rai with an uppercut!
Rai misses with a lunging right hand
and Smith counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Rai is rocked!
Smith fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Rai.
Smith batters Rai with a massive right followed by a huge left! Rai is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Smith lands a final crushing right hand to drop Rai to the mat with a gruesome thud! Smith is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Austin Smith!
Austin Smith decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
