The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Velasquez has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Marlow is trying to keep an underhook but Velasquez manages to get the takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Velasquez seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Marlow is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Nice strikes from Velasquez there.
Velasquez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Marlow with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Marlow tries to roll over but Velasquez keeps him under control.
Velasquez works his foot free and advances to mount.
Velasquez postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Marlow badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Velasquez around the waist but Velasquez pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Velasquez is the winner by TKO! Velasquez jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cain Velasquez!
