Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luke Upton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuey Chuleta! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Alyssa Summers and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Upton misses with a straight left. Upton waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Chuleta. Upton lands an overhand right. A telegraphed right hand from Chuleta misses the target. Upton needs to keep his hands up - Chuleta had a free shot at his head there.
It looks like Luke Upton has been cut. Good standup being displayed there by Chuleta as he connects with a hook. Chuleta misses with a wild body shot. Upton scores with a push kick. Upton dips to his left and cracks Chuleta with an uppercut! Chuleta connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Upton staying out of range there. Upton staying out of range there. Upton moves in looking to clinch but Chuleta pushes him off. Chuleta is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Upton. Upton misses with a two punch combination.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Chuleta throws an overhand right that lands on Upton's shoulder, as Upton tries to avoid the shot. Chuleta throws the left hand but Upton avoids the punch easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Upton looks to land a combination. Chuleta sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Chuleta bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Chuleta looks to land a right hand but Upton moved out of range. A left lands for Upton. A telegraphed right hand from Chuleta misses the target. Upton tries to score a power double leg takedown but Chuleta sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Upton somewhat. Chuleta scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Upton throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Chuleta sees it coming and avoids it easily. Upton lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Upton misses with a looping right. Chuleta throws an off balance right hand
and Upton counters with a left and a right that stings Chuleta. Chuleta avoids the body shot from Upton.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Upton pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Chuleta throws a jab when Upton was well out of range. Upton tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Chuleta throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Chuleta might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Chuleta swings for the body but Upton moves out of range.
Chuleta looks to land a left hand but Upton moved out of range nicely. Chuleta drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Upton misses with a wild combination.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Chuleta throws a looping overhand right but Upton ducks down to avoid it. Chuey Chuleta is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Chuleta moves forwards but Upton connects with a nice, crisp jab. Upton uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Chuleta. Chuleta slips under a jab. Upton lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Chuleta fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Upton on the side of the head. Upton avoids the body shot from Chuleta.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Upton throws a hook but Chuleta blocks it. Upton misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Upton shoots in but Chuleta avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luke Upton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Upton swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Chuleta connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. This has been an exciting period of action! Upton throws the left hand but Chuleta avoids the punch easily. Chuleta cracks a nice hook into Upton's ribs. Upton keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Chuleta. Upton tries to clinch but Chuleta moves out of range. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Chuleta looks to throw the jab but Upton is out of range. Chuleta slips a jab from Upton. Upton fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Upton lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Chuleta circles away quickly and effectively. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Chuey Chuleta will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Luke Upton's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Upton tries to clinch but Chuleta moves out of range. Upton gets a takedown into half guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Chuleta makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Chuleta scores with a nice head shot. Chuleta misses with a left hand and Upton counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Upton is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Upton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chuleta moves away. Upton looks to score with a jab to the body but Chuleta is just out of range. Chuleta lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Chuleta throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Chuleta ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Upton moves away. Chuleta throws out a loose jab but Upton uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Chuleta counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Chuleta connects with a body shot. Upton tries for a takedown but Chuleta sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Luke Upton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Upton shoots in but Chuleta avoids the takedown attempt easily. Upton throws a right hand that Chuleta ducks under and follows up with a left that Chuleta also avoids with ease. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Chuleta swings for the body but Upton moves out of range.

The crowd cheers as Chuleta lands an impressive looking overhand right. Upton doesn't seem phased though. Chuleta lands a nice shot to the body.
Upton scores with a sloppy right hand. Chuleta should have avoided that one. Chuleta waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Upton. A swing and a miss from Chuleta. Upton dives in and grabs Chuleta's left leg, looking for a takedown. Chuleta pushes down on Upton's head and hops out. Upton slips a straight right by Chuleta. Sloppy strikes from Upton. Those never looked like landing. Chuleta tries to move into range but Upton moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Upton throws a hook but Chuleta blocks it. Upton fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chuleta loads up on a big right hand but Upton slips the punch. Nice uppercut there from Chuleta. Chuleta throws a hook but Upton avoids it easily. Chuleta is pawing at Upton, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Upton's nose. Upton is badly hurt! Chuleta pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Upton tries desperately to hold on but Chuleta is relentless in his assault! As Upton receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Chuleta away and this one is in the books!
