Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michal Materla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Star Fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michal Materla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Star Fighter!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fighter shoots in and bounces Materla off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Materla is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fighter wants to pass the guard but Materla is keeping the position.
Materla is striking off his back. Fighter thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Materla has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Fighter sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Materla defending well though.
Fighter thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Materla's head.
Materla is trying to stand.
Fighter is thwarting Materla's attempts to control the position.
Materla is staying active underneath Fighter, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Materla looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Fighter wants to take a breather but Materla is having none of it.

Materla pushes Fighter off looking to stand but Fighter dives back in and keeps control.

Materla lands with a few short shots to the body.
Still in half guard, Fighter seems content to control.
Materla works his way to full guard. Good work.
Materla will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Materla is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Fighter regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Materla.

Fighter looks gassed!

Materla prevents Fighter from getting back to his feet.

Materla postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Fighter is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Materla, into his guard.

Materla looking for a guillotine here but Fighter defends easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Materla is on top in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Materla postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michal Materla dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Materla circles away from the clinch attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Materla.
Materla shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fighter as he avoids it easily.

Fighter shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Materla is trying to defend but Fighter finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Fighter throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Materla wants to get back to his feet.
Materla tries to roll over but Fighter keeps him under control.
Materla flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Fighter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Materla. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Materla keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Materla is trying to stand.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fighter is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Fighter is trying to control. Materla wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Materla is looking for a sweep. Fighter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Materla gets back to full guard.
Materla trying to keep a closed guard but Fighter is proving a slippery customer.

Materla working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fighter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fighter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fighter lands a couple of digs.
Fighter advances to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Materla gets full guard.
Fighter trying to control the position from guard on top but Materla is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fighter pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Materla is keeping the position for now.

Materla looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fighter passes into half guard.
Materla is not content to let Fighter control the position.

Materla looking for a kimura from the bottom but Fighter passes into side control!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Materla is not content to let Fighter control the position.
Fighter is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Materla tries to bench press Fighter off him but Fighter keeps the position.
Materla manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Materla makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Materla throws a looping overhand right but Fighter ducks down to avoid it.
Fighter throws a head kick that misses.
Materla with a jab.
Materla changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fighter tries to avoid it but Materla manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fighter to the ground. Fighter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michal Materla. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Horrible takedown by Fighter or perhaps it was just good defense by Materla which made him look bad.

Materla shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Fighter napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fighter is looking for a sweep.
Materla lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Michal Materla will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Materla defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Fighter.
Fighter shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Materla defends it nicely.
Materla has a takedown stuffed.
The fight stays on the outside here - Fighter looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Materla counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Fighter!
Michal Materla has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Star Fighter.
Fighter takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Fighter takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Materla landing strikes, looking to finish!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Materla cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Fighter is looking to improve his position but Materla isn't that keen on the idea.
Fighter is in a horrible position here. Materla smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
