Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Mullen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Liam Lasher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Mullen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Liam Lasher!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lasher wants to clinch but Mullen slips to the side
and Mullen counters with an inside leg kick.
Mullen circles away from the clinch attempt
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Lasher doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Mullen counters with a leg kick.
Mullen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lasher.
Lasher tries to clinch up.
Lasher misses with a takedown attempt
and Mullen counters with a nice low kick that buckles Lasher's knee momentarily.
Steve Mullen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Liam Lasher.
Lasher checks the leg kick nicely there.
Lasher tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Mullen counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Lasher is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Mullen lands a head kick. Lasher smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


It looks like Liam Lasher has been cut.

and Mullen counters with an outside leg kick.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lasher takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Lasher shoots and misses
and Mullen counters with a nice body kick.
Lasher fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Lasher looks gassed!

Mullen fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Lasher has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Mullen lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Steve Mullen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Lasher fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mullen to the ground. Lasher is now in Mullen's guard.
Mullen wants to stand but Lasher is controlling the position.
Lasher tries to free his leg and advance position but Mullen is retaining full guard.

Mullen has his foot on Lasher's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lasher works his way back into a safe position though.
Lasher passes into half guard.
Lasher is stalling here. Mullen is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Lasher seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Mullen has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Lasher can't do much from the bottom here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mullen decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Lasher is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mullen gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Mullen dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Lasher stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Mullen.
Mullen connects with a leg kick. Lasher looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Lasher connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Lasher crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Mullen - the referee stops the clock and Lasher gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Mullen. Lasher manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Mullen connects with a high kick.
Lasher looks for the body kick but Mullen saw that one coming.

Lasher goes for a takedown attempt but Mullen pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A nice inside leg kick there by Mullen. That's going to slow Lasher down.
Lasher is breathing heavily.
Mullen throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


Liam Lasher's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Mullen fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Lasher.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lasher misses with a takedown attempt
and Mullen makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Lasher throws a right and a left that Mullen avoids nicely.
Steve Mullen is winning the standup battle so far.

and Mullen counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Good leg kick by Mullen there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Lasher fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mullen avoids it really well and circles away.
Steve Mullen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Liam Lasher.
A solid leg kick lands there for Mullen.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Liam Lasher's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Steve Mullen!
