Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Misaki Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takanori Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Misaki Suzuki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takanori Gomez! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Sosuke Kotani and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Suzuki is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Gomez. Suzuki looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Gomez wants to get back to his feet.
Suzuki tries to stand and escape but Gomez actually recovers to full guard. Gomez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Suzuki is controlling him. Gomez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Suzuki won't allow Gomez to get back to his feet. Suzuki with a flurry of punches that miss.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Suzuki fails with a takedown attempt. Suzuki shoots in but Gomez avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Suzuki. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Misaki Suzuki. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gomez throws a solid leg kick but Suzuki takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Gomez. Gomez fails to land with a series of punches.
Suzuki changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gomez tries to avoid it but Suzuki manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gomez to the ground. Gomez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Gomez blocks a head kick by Suzuki.
Gomez misses with a double jab.
Suzuki shoots in and drives through. Gomez sprawls well. Suzuki misses with a takedown attempt - Gomez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Suzuki looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Suzuki is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Suzuki misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Suzuki fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Suzuki fails to land the takedown. Misaki Suzuki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gomez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Gomez lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Gomez. Suzuki shoots for a takedown but Gomez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Good leg kick by Gomez there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Gomez lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Suzuki fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Suzuki changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gomez tries to avoid it but Suzuki manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gomez to the ground. Gomez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Suzuki misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Suzuki shoots in for a double leg but Gomez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Gomez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gomez gets caught flat footed, as Suzuki shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Suzuki throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Suzuki postures up in Gomez's guard and throws a big left but Gomez blocks it. Suzuki throws a big right hand that misses. Gomez wants to stand and escape but Suzuki is having none of it. Gomez working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Suzuki.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gomez wants to stand but Suzuki is controlling the position. Suzuki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gomez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Suzuki shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Suzuki has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Gomez's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Suzuki lands a big shot there that rocks Gomez but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Gomez is trying to get back to his feet but can't. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Suzuki fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
You get the feeling that Gomez really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Suzuki lands a nice shot to the head. Poor strikes thrown by Suzuki there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Takanori Gomez dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Suzuki changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gomez tries to avoid it but Suzuki manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gomez to the ground. Gomez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Excellent takedown into side control there by Suzuki. Suzuki throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Gomez wants to get back to his feet but Suzuki drags him back down. Suzuki decides to stand back up. Suzuki shoots for a double leg takedown but Gomez sprawls well. He's pushed Suzuki's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Suzuki has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Misaki Suzuki. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gomez buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Suzuki misses with a takedown attempt - Gomez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Gomez throws a right and a left that Suzuki avoids nicely. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Suzuki throws a big right hand that misses. Gomez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Gomez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Suzuki wants to pass the guard but Gomez is keeping the position.

Suzuki shoots in but Gomez avoids the takedown attempt easily. Takanori Gomez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Suzuki closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Suzuki lands in his opponent's guard. Suzuki lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Suzuki accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Suzuki postures up in Gomez's guard and throws a big left but Gomez blocks it. Suzuki throwing strikes from guard but Gomez blocks nicely. Suzuki works over Gomez with some ground and pound from guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Suzuki throws and elbow that misses. Gomez uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Suzuki's guard. Nice move by Gomez! Gomez wants to get up but he can't break Suzuki's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Gomez won't allow Suzuki to sweep him here.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Suzuki shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gomez as he jumps to the side. Suzuki throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gomez's waist but Gomez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Suzuki off to one side. Gomez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Suzuki. Suzuki closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Suzuki lands in his opponent's guard. Suzuki looking to pass the guard. Suzuki landing with the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Suzuki stands and throws Gomez's legs to the side, diving into side control. Suzuki cracks Gomez with a big elbow.
Gomez is rocked! Suzuki working the ground and pound. Gomez is still in real trouble! Can Suzuki finish him? Suzuki thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Misaki Suzuki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Suzuki works to advance to full mount. Gomez defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Suzuki landing strikes from the mount and Gomez is in trouble! Suzuki lands a heavy elbow. Suzuki landing punches. Suzuki dominating with strikes here. Suzuki lands a big elbow - Gomez is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Gomez is forced to tap out!
