Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dingo Monster! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Charles Tyson! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tyson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Tyson swings away with a leg kick that misses. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Tyson. Monster shrugs it off though. Tyson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Tyson dips to his left and cracks Monster with an uppercut!
It looks like Dingo Monster has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Tyson throws a left and a right that both miss
and Monster counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. A head kick misses from Monster. Monster looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Tyson moves forwards but Monster connects with a nice, crisp jab. Tyson shoots in for a takedown but Monster shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Monster thumps Tyson with a low kick. Tyson takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Tyson shoots in for a double leg but Monster sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Tyson fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Monster swats away the attempt to clinch by Tyson.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monster bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Tyson scores with a kick to the midsection. Tyson does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Tyson tries a head kick but it misses.
Tyson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Monster swats him away and circles back towards the center. Tyson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Tyson controls the position. Monster is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Tyson has just dragged him back down to the mat. The ground and pound from Tyson seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Tyson has hold of Monster's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Monster seems comfortable defending it but Tyson has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Monster is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Monster is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Tyson couldn't care less - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Charles Tyson!
