Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronnie Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Connor comes to the cage accompanied by Ça vaut mieux que d'attraper la scarlatine by Ray Venture. The crowd seem to be enjoying Morgan's choice of entrance music: Black Snake Moan. John Connor could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Ronnie Morgan's chin.

9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ronnie Morgan! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Morgan throws a leg kick but Connor moved away. Morgan throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Connor swinging wildly here.

Connor feints a jab promting Morgan to slip. Connor then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Morgan slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Morgan cracks Connor with a right hand to the side of the head. Connor moves out of range of the leg kick from Morgan. Connor takes a swing at Morgan's ribcage but misses. Connor misses with a wild body shot. Connor moves out of range of the leg kick from Morgan. Connor connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
It looks like Ronnie Morgan has been cut. Morgan does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Connor misses with the combination.

Morgan moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Morgan throws a sloppy head kick and Connor moves out of range easily. Morgan on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Connor fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Morgan. Morgan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Morgan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Connor scores with a decent looking hook. Morgan connects with a leg kick. Connor looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Morgan has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Connor misses with a body shot.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Connor creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Connor avoids a wild elbow strike from Morgan. Morgan goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Connor jumps guard and drags Morgan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Connor holds on and takes a little breather. Connor looking to hit a scissor sweep but Morgan is one step ahead there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of John Connor. A head kick misses from Morgan. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that John Connor will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Ronnie Morgan's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Connor crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Morgan - the referee stops the clock and Connor gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Morgan. Connor manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Connor's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Connor duly obliges. Morgan lands a nice leg kick that just misses Connor's sensitive parts. Morgan scores with a head kick.
Connor lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Morgan circles away quickly and effectively. Morgan throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Connor. Connor misses with a straight right. Connor swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Morgan misses with a leg kick and Connor counters with a lovely straight right hand! Morgan misses with a low kick.

Connor working the ground and pound from side control. Connor throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Morgan works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Connor prevents Morgan from standing back up.
